since there's a thread about gaining weight...
    #13327448 -

i figured to make one about losing it. so this time i'm really gonna try. i'm probably 230 right now, 6 feet tall. i'd like to lose 40-50 lbs. i would also like to lose my bitchtits but i'm not completely sure how to do that...bench presses? i smoke about a pack a week, and weed daily.
my plan is to try to cut back even more on the cigs, take a daily run that gets longer everyday, and eat less and healthier. i.e. not as much ice cream, candy, and greasy stuff.
so does anyone have any other tips or ideas they think might be helpful?

Cutting cigarettes isn't going to help you lose weight man, in fact you'll probably gain some.

Number one tip: drink more water. You'll feel less hungry, be less likely to drink more sugary beverages, and you'll start dropping water weight.

indeed. but it is a good health move.

Anyway. What I tell most of the people that consult me is
1) Write down everything you eat for a week
2) Figure out more or less how many calories you ate per day
3) Bring your calorie intake down to JUST 2000cals a day

works like a charm, most people eat about 3000 or more without even knowing they do.

Keep that up for like about 3 months. you WILL lose weight. If you wanna lose more weight after that you can then calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate (or BMR) and stick to ONLY that amount of calories per day. If you are tall, dont worry, it wont be too far from the 2000cal mark.

Lastly. There is no crash diet that works, no matter what you hear/read. The warrior diet isnt a bad meal plan, but for that matter neither is the South Beach diet. But neither of them are really all that great in the long run.
AND you will not healthily lose weight unless you exercise. One of my personal peeves is that people actually believe that just cause they are eating different/less and see the scale move down they are getting healthier. This is not quite true. Once again, i will admit that some of these diets provide a much better meal plan than a lot of people have, but weight loss (although it helps) doesnt equate to being healthier.

Muscle mass is a lot more dense than fat mass. There for someone who has more muscle could look smaller than a person who doesnt, but in fact, weigh a lot more.

You can be a 100lbs if 60 of those lbs are just flesh and fat cells you are still a fatty!

While, even if you are not in an "ideal" weight, if most of what you weigh is make up of muscle, not only will you look better but you'll deffenetly be healthier as well.

Do something as simple as walking 30min a day every other day and you'll be on your way to a healthier you

Losing weight comes down to eating less food in general and less shit food. Its that simple.

I used to weigh 230 pounds(6ft tall) at 16 years old in middle school. I started smoking weed and I changed my diet because I just started cooking my own food more and eating out less. I wasn't trying to lose weight, but I was smoking weed a lot so I was at home more often and that just lead to cooking my own food. I basically just sit around all day long on the computer researching and reading things. Never ever really leaving the comp unless its to urinate or shit or refill my drink. I almost always have a beverage, but I don't drink soda at all, as a matter of fact, I been drinking juice so long that when I drink a soda it burns my throat and I can't stand it. I will drink about 5 glasses or more of juice(sometimes koolaid but maybe like 10% as often as juice) a day at least and eat 1 meal a day usually. Sometimes I might snack on something during the day. When my body gives me the hunger feeling, I just refill my glass and drink it. The feeling comes back within 2 hours or so, and I refill my glass.

I didn't do this change on purpose,I just happened to move into that lifestyle. I lost a fucking shit load of weight. I dropped to 170 within 1.5 years. This was extremely slow over time loss and I barely even noticed it. I only started realizing it after everyone started telling me I lost a lot of weight.

I never eat fast food anymore. I never buy premade seasoning packets now. I always buy the seasonings as they are and make the mixes myself. I cook everything myself and I buy all the base ingredients for it.

Pot stickers
Chili
Tacos
Vegetable beef soup
Hamburgers
Bacon Fried Rice

Thats all I ever eat as my dinner meals. I am a very picky eater now.
The snacks I eat will be leftovers of those meals. It also helps to eat quality food, go to the butcher!

Pretty much, but for some it isnt so simple. A lot of people are unaware of how good or how bad things are for them + a lot of peoples metabolism needs a jump start.

Also, as I said before, one thing is losing weight for the sake a losing weight, another is losing weight with the goal of being healthier.

Although its a great acomplishment to lose that much weight (good for you!!) it doesnt sound like you went about it the healthiest way possible.

Listen to this guy although I personally wouldn't drop right down to 2000k fuck that.  3200 calories=one pound, eat less, burn more, lose t3h adipose tissue.

It's like a bank account, what you put in you have to burn it off to lose the fat, eat 6 small meals per day to keep your metabolism going, don't skip breakfast.

And be honest, have you ever TRIED to eat healthy? It's fulfilling as shit!  Corn, whole grain breads, brown rice, sweet potatoes, vegetables and fruits from all different colors, and lean meats like chicken and tuna.  If you eat all that shit you won't be hungry and they contain way less calories and will make you live a longer more healthy life.

In between meals even when I'm not hungry I'll steam up vegetables or just eat grapes and shit.

-third year fitness studies major.

good luck, keep a log too.

Calories you consume < Calories you burn = weight loss.

Calories you consume > Calories you burn = weight gain.

Any questions?

but #8 that makes sense. if you consume more then you burn each day, you'll gain weight.
