$0.50 Shotgun FC Step by step, #PICS# * 2

Get a single use 15 Liter jug for a water cooler, costs $5 but you drink the water and the deposit is fifty cents.

Here is one I got from Sobey's in Canada.

Cut it in half, kiss your fifty cents goodbye.

Aim for just above the first "rib" on the bottle, cut it at the line where it is about to widen out for the first time.

If you did it right the top half of the bottle will slide over the bottom and sit there nice and snug.

Like so.

I got a soldering iron with a quarter inch tip.

Like so.

Measure 2 inch marks all around, burn them in (or drill if you prefer)
And cover the bottle's sides, top and bottom with the 1/4 inch holes.

Done!

Fill with 8 inches of wet pearlite, cover the big hole on top with micropore or stuff it with polyfill plop a grown over spawn bag into it and FRUIT FRUIT FRUIT!
I'm gonna attach little feet to keep it off the table a bit.
It's gonna look so nice full of mushrooms! Lots of headroom for tall fruits, a decent amount of space at the sides to grow up. Perfect for one large spawnbag!

The bottom is pretty thick at some points so use caution making your holes.
"High" setting on the soldering iron by the way.

And do it outside with the wind at your back. (Stinks)

You need 62 holes 6 millimeters in size all over it top bottom and sides.
The first run at this had twice as many holes as needed.

Yeah I cringe cutting up $14 rubbermaids, also the round shape is cool, Had a round fish tank once, really neat.

I use 2 liter coke bottles the same way  for single cakes when trying out different strains works really well. good job :mushroom2:

Nice.  I think there are lots of ideas to be generated from this.  I just "shot" a rubbermaid and it did make me cringe too.  I want a really nice bell jar to show off a grow in.  This might have to do for now.
