Beginner using Mycodome 3-in-1 Mushroom Growing System
    #13272305 -

I'm planning on getting Mycodome 3-in-1 Mushroom Growing System with the the a 6 substrate jar and mushbox mini from http://mushbox.com/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=7 and a spore syringe Psilocybe Cubensis Spore Syringe Microscopy Kits from http://www.sporepod.com/Products.html .  I'm new to this and have heard this is a good set up to start with.  Any of you have any advice or comments for me that would be great! Thanks!

Why spend money on a kit. Not saying the kit isn't worth it or good, but why spend money on it when you have Shroomery? A ShotGun Fruiting Chamber will probably perform better in the first place. Anyways if you do blow your money on it, tell us how it does. :pipesmoke:

Grab your spores from one of the shroomery sponsors, they're guaranteed to be reliable.  I personally recommend sporeworks.

As for your kit, it's generally better to build it yourself.  If you're heart set on a kit check out our vendors and see if any of them have what you want.  I guarantee anything you buy from mushbox is going to be heavily overpriced.

seriously, i doubt you will understand enough about growing mushrooms when ordering some pre-made kit.

Go through the process yourself, everything can be built easily and cheaply with stuff from the hardware store.
Doing so results in you (hopefully) doing some research, and will lead you to way better results that you could ever get with a "mushroom grow kit" that's overpriced and less than ideal.

Watch these 4 videos on the PF tek and making an extremely effective shotgun fruiting chamber.

http://www.mushroomvideos.com/BRF-Pf-Tek

For more info search the forums for PF tek and read a bunch.

You can find all the supplies you need for very cheap and close by.
All you need is:
Half pint mason jars (wide mouth) - grocery store
vermiculite - garden store
gypsum - garden store or your house (drywall)
Brown rice flour - organic foods store
Pot - for boiling not smoking
Aluminum foil
Perlite - garden store
big clear tub/tote
6500k flourescent bulb - hardware store, or sunlight
70% & 90% isopropol alcohol - grocery store
gloves like a doctor
lighter or alcohol lamp
spores - from one of the sponsors
patience

And all this crap is cheap. probably can get everything you need for like $40

Good luck!!!

I like this overpriced POS http://mushbox.com/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=10

They're selling, essentially, a 30 dollar 4 tier greenhouse, a humidifier, and a timer for 450 bucks. It even includes perlite. Better jump on that smokin' deal before they run out.

seriously, they make money of dumb people. No offense, but don't buy into their marketing ploys. What you get won't be any better than what you can built with stuff from the hardware / grocery store. But you pay a lot more for this crap. If you put some thought into the functionality when building your stuff you will get to understand the mushroom a lot better. Watch RogerRabits videos, he does a prime example of just how easy it can be, start to finish. It really is that simple IF you don't improvise and cut corners.

Learn a lot about sterile procedure and contaminants, because this will be the focus most the time when cultivating. You can get started for less than 100$

Don't even try to copy their design. Go and build a simple Shotgun Fruiting chamber. This will be more than enough to fruit cakes and small trays of spawned grains. You will find that if you build it to spec that it works best the less you mess with it.

I really hope you are reading this and putting some thought into your actions before buying.
