QUESTION ABOUT THE ER

last night i went to the ER for a bad earache. its a fucking infection and they did prescribe anti biotics along with some steroids. i also got a small bottle of drops that is suppose tp help with the pain. IT DOESNT!!! my shit still hurts so im thinking about going back tonight for the pain. should i push for some strong painkillers? i would even be cool with the 5mg hydrocodones.

any suggestions? i do have insurance so i dont see why they wouldnt.

oh, what are the steroids for? im thinking to speed up the heart rate to get the blood flowing so the anti biotics can do its job much quicker.

That's a lot of time to wait to try and get painkillers.  You can try to make an appointment with your MD, though the pain will probably go away pretty soon so I would just wait a few days.

Steroids are anti inflammatories if I'm not mistaken. Since your shit is infected is more than likely swollen, which is where part of the pain is probably coming from. I know if you were in Portland Providence ER, they wold give you oxy. LOL. It wouldn't hurt. Just make sure to stress that your ear hurts really bad, but make sure not to make it too obvious otherwise they'll look right through you.

Ive had bad ear problems in the past, and anything they gave me pretty much did nothing. I had a ruptured ear drum when I was driving down a steep road and I heard a pop. Excrutiating pain immediately.

When I got to the ER they just gave me antibiodics and said only time will heal it. It sucks with inner ear problems, nothing you do makes it feel better.

Have you tried irrigation with hydrogen peroxide? Just drop 4-5 drops down there, and let your head sit to the side for 10 minutes, then drain and use a Q-tip. I do that when i get earaches. I had tubes as a kid, so i get them from time to time.

Go to a doctor, a regular one. Stop using the ER for non emergencies. I can see the first time, at night and all but call up a doctor and make an appointment. I am sure you could see one that day.

Never hurts to have some extra painkiller around.

i didnt get pain pills, and i ended up not going. i did get my biotics and roids so the pain should be gone by the end of the weekend. which sucks cause IT FUCKING HURTS!!!

as far as the 2,000.00. i got insurance my african american brotha. cost me 100.00. i do need to quit being lazy and set an appt. for a primary doc though.

well i went back to the er last night cause the infection spread and the pain got worse. i got two shots of pneacilan(sp?) in the butt and thats it.i even pushed for pain killers at the end and i was told the shots would help and for me to keep eating ibprofen.

what the fuck is insurance for then? if im in obvious pain and i respectfuly ask for something i should get it.

thats okay though cause im setting an appointment for a primary doctor this week.

FUCK THE ER! my fucking ass is sore too.

most hospitals are going to be hesitant to give you pain killers because they get junkies all day long begging for pain meds, so after awhile they don't give a shit.

if you're really in pain then you have a better shot getting those meds from your general practitioner than the ER. like kimbo said the ER is stingy as fuck about giving out pain meds unless you're seriously wounded. if the doc knows you though...

thats what i figured, but i was obivoulsy in pain. the doc even said and i quote, " its extremely rare for the infection to spread like yours did.".

i was having fucked headaches and i havnt got any sleep in the past week.

Insurance doesn't (or at least shouldn't) have anything to do with how they treat you. It's not like they're all "Oh, he has insurance, we'll do whatever he asks".

And you were taken care of. The doctors did what they felt necessary, which is their job.

Insurance really isn't about the quality of care, at least as far as ER visits go, it's about the cost.

you will always get at least some 5 500s. Its not post surgery so you wont get oxy 99% of the time.

Now benzos, thats a whole different story, so fucking easy to get a script in the ER. If you have insurance and go to a non busy ER in your city its pretty much a hookup.

Thats if you dont mind pretending to have a massive panic attack. again, sleep is usually a good factor into if there gonna put out or not especially if your working.

god this is all horrible advice and its a horribly good way to becoming a benzo zombie very quickly. tread carefully.

Back when I was having hardcore panic attacks i remember hitting up multiple ERs in a day for a hook up of like 90 lorazepam, some of them 2 miligram... I dont remember shit from that time, in the space of a month I only remember a week of it. When I "came to" as it would seem, I was going out with a lumbering cock slut. I was crazy for her homegirl and in my fucked up benzo logic I thought if I got with the other girl I could get closer to her XD.
