Itunes/ipod help

Hi, how ya doin?

How the hell do i manually delete selected songs/artists off MIpod?  Since my hard drive crashed i'm on what they consider a "new" itunes.  So it's asking if i want to delete everything off the Pod and sync with my new itunes.  No i do not want to do that.

Any help asap would be appreciated.

Depends on what generation your iPod is. You can always use winamp's built in plugin (ml_ipod) to manage your music if you have a fifth-gen model or below.

Thanks for the suggestion Fuzzbox, i'm hoping i wont have to d/l winamp for this situation.

when itunes says it wants to sync it doesnt mean sync like the rest of the world does.

the rest of the world will sync and mirror the two devices.. its a 2 way communication.

when itunes does it, it is a sync from itunes to the ipod. itunes will mirror whatever is in its library on the ipod. if there is nothing in the library then it will make sure there is nothing on the ipod.

you need to pull the music/video off and you should be fine after that. use something like SharePod or Floola (assuming youre on windows) to copy music from the ipod to your computer.

in a related note.. Apple is fucking retarded.

Or you could just not have it automatically sync and you can drag/drop shit to and from your device. I can't be fucked to look now but if I recall correctly it's a pretty easy thing to do. It might even be an option if you plug it in, cancel the sync, and click on the device in your iTunes.

You're going to have to go and copy all that stuff from your ipod into a folder on to your comp so you don't lose it. Then you can rewrite it, sometimes they change the names of the songs though into weird titles. But you should be able to just copy and paste the stuff you saved in the folder back into itunes and it should work.

I made a big deal out of the generation of the iPod due to the sixth-gens having encrypted firmware that has yet to be broken; those programs you mentioned work in roughly the same manner as ml_ipod, only not requiring Winamp. I'm not sure if any of them are compatible with the sixth-gen stuff yet, but more than likely never will be %100 until the encryption is bypassed or cracked.

You can't do that. As Frith said you need a program to copy things from an iPod.

Thanks Frith, D/L sharepod and everything is going rather smoothly thus far.  Copied music from the pod to my comp, now im assuming im supposed to let my itunes sync with my device.

Then i can add the old music out of my comp file back into the device?  Hope so, we'll see.

Nevermind, can add them right there through the sharepod.  Who woulda thought life could ever be so ez.
