dunno how true this all is but givingthe government ANY lee-way over what can go onto the internet is complete and utter bullshit,

when did people forget that the U.S. government was created BY and FOR the people, when did the government become some seperate entity that always seems to have it out for us??

They tell us we are free then pick and choose which freedoms we have

After I submitted the online petition, the next screen gave me the number of my representative to call. Maybe you didn't enter your zip code so it didn't know who to give you?

I'm really not a big fan of illegal downloading, but this act could be a first step towards complete government control of the internet.

Yeah, I think internet petitions are useless jokes meant to inspire people to take action and subsequently be ignored; great stuff.

Blacklisting/censorship is a big issue though, and has to be stopped. I've noticed that googling for politically incorrect/taboo subjects has been slowly yielding less and less relevant results. Google claims to not censor in the US, yet they said so themselves (I gotta find that source again) that they can choose not to display results for "sensitive issues like drugs, crime, etc.".

Here's something for you to try: Type in something like "i would like to see lsd legalized" (or a similar simple statement, remember to use the quotation marks), you could imagine thousands of quotes from different sites, blogs, and forums sprouting up, but searches like that tend to yield only a page or two of completely irrelevant hits. The censorship started a long time ago, and unfortunately, can only be slowed.

I don't see how censoring the internet could be useful since websites can pop up overnight. If one gets shut down, 10 others take its place. The best the government can hope for is slowing things down, but people are going to develop their own search engines. Google is government crap.

So they will be able to shut a domain down if they conclude that they are breaking the law?

When will every drug website be taken down? Will information be considered cause to deem a website is breaking the law? Will sites like the Shroomery be taken down just because of it's content? Will they consider the information we have here conspiracy to commit a crime?

Is that what this says?

I dont think it says that but I can definitely see something like this happening in the near future. why not? In the eyes of the law I can't see how they wouldn't think that this website is nothing but one giant conspiracy to commit countless "crimes"
