i have some jars and it looks like the substrate is pulling away from the jars. is this signs of contam?

also i have a jar that has a small little green area which i think its mold.
get a pencil and make its 3 dots ontop of hear other and its about this big. this cake is 100% colonized and i was thinking of birthing it. can i cut this little part out? actually the more i look at it it looks like the verm that was left on the glass from the cake pullin back

The cake is pulling back because it is drying out. It is not a sign of contamination. When you birth those cakes make sure to do what you can to rehydrate them if the cakes shrinking is substantial. You can do a search on humidity and the dunk tek. You didn't indicate how much your cakes are pulling back. If it isn't too much then I wouldn't worry about dunking them.

I didn't really understand your description of the green spot. What I would suggest is when you go to birth them examine that one more carefully. If it looks like it is mold you can cut it out and still try growing it but I would make sure to seperate it from the other cakes. If it doesn't look like mold after removing it from the jar then YAY!

ok kewl. they are too dry meaning that i didnt have enough water in my mix or there wasnt enought humidity in my incubator? This is my first grow so i am still a little inexpirence in my mixings.

I was delinatly thinking of duning these cakes. You sugest what? 12 or 24 hours?

thanks..

ps. can i used tap water that has been sterlized say for 15 mins.

It is normal for it to pull away from the sides. Otherwise it would be almost impossible to get your cake out. I'm not sure how much they are pulled away . As long as you cake is not like 75% of its original size it is perfectly normal.

I don't really have much knowledge about dunking cakes. Most of my knowledge is in casings which you dont need to dunk. There are a lot of threads that you can read up on in the Cultivation forum about dunking.

I would do some reading up on dunking first and then if you can't find the answer to all your questions... I am sure someone in the Cult forums can answer your question.
