White jars, time to birth these babies?
    #1132963 - 12/11/02 02:51 PM (21 years, 3 months ago)

My jars have been all white for about 4-5 days except on 2 of the 3 there is one spot a bit smaller than a quarter on each of them. The other is completely coverred. Should i birth them now, or wait for that bit to get filled in, cuz that bit is pushed really tightly against the jar wall and the mycellum cant seem to access it. So if i birth now, could this be bad? Thanks for reading

Yeah, you should wait cuz that spot could easily contam if you take it out prior to complete colonization. Just to be safe. Your other jar thats done wont be harmed by waiting a bit longer.

it's been a while since i read PF but dosen't PF say to wait until pinning begins before birthing?

Ok I lied. I just went there and looked and damn if it wasn't really hard to get this info....not......

As stated in many of the Teks, waiting till pins form invitro is not necessary, but not a bad idea.  Also, to answer the first question, WAIT until all of the cake is colonized, better safe then sorry

I think that's kinda the idea for the newbie to wait until the formation of pins or primordia....because the cakes are much less likely to be fully colonized thus ensuring a positive outcome. Newb success seems to the the major "thing" with PF tek no?

Yes it does.  I'm in the middle of my first grow right now actually (I just birthed) and I decided to wait for full colonization rather then invitro pinning.  It's been about  4 - 5 days...........we'll see
