And yes, there does seem to be a lot of racism on the Shroomery. For a long time I thought it was all in jest, but when the jokes settle and the serious discussion begins you'll find a lot of reasoning which is informed by a sincere underlying belief that black people are genetically and socially inferior to white people.

I will take your edict to heart and call you out on your ignorance.  People are by and large responsible for what happens to them.  Pumping out bastard baby after bastard baby is the single most harmful thing you can do to your socio-economic status.  Nobody forced them to do it and ignoring that fact is ignorant and offensive.  Further, the behavior that leads to that affliction is also the cause of HSV-2.  You have to be a brain dead moron not to connect those dots.

1.  There is a causal relationship between promiscuous unprotected sex and HSV-2.
2.  There is a causal relationship between promiscuous unprotected sex and bastard babies.
3.  There is a causal relationship between bastard babies and poverty.
4.  Having promiscuous unprotected sex is a choice.
5.  Ergo, choosing to have promiscuous unprotected sex is causative of both poverty and herpes and is the responsibility of the party involved and no one else.

Really, wake the fuck up.  Until they recognize and accept responsibility for their choices they will remain victims of their choices.  Assorted hand wringing morons will continue to deflect that responsibility to some nebulous actor but that has the net effect of keeping them in thrall to their own fuckups.  Moynihan knew this.

And you know what is the biggest causal relationship of all??  A lack of sexual/social education leads to all these things.  Go to any European country and you will see exactly the same statistics amongst the poorest sections of society.

The poorest sections of society have the most limited access to education as to the results of their sexual activity, consequently a paucity of good role models and a nice easy road into the causal links you set out above.

Does this have anything to do with the colour of their skin?  No, because you can see the same thing amongst whites, blacks, asians etc. in other countries. 

Is it a product of the social neglect of these sections of society, where we either dole out welfare money or enclose them in a criminal system instead of trying to improve their lot and allow them to live productive, meaningful lives?  There's your answer.

You task individuals to take responsibility for their own actions, but you are talking about millions of people who you think deserve castigation for their 'low morals'.  perhaps it makes a little more sense to continue looking for these causal relationships instead.

how about it has more to do with game, every one and their brother is
spittin' game, children of middle class blacks on on the path of downward
mobility and becoming poor, not because of discrimination but because of
idol worship and the expectation of entitlement. the idol worship has
young blacks trying to emulate those in music and and other media leading
to more unwanted pregnancy and the extra side effects that promiscuity carries

middle class has grown since the 60's and is still growing but will
start shrinking with the next generation, can you possibly claim that
black kids have no knowledge of sex education when it's readily
available in public schools starting as early as 5th grade and even with
kindergartners in some districts


it's so easy to try and blame everything under the sun except for those poor, poor black kids that are out fucking around every chance they get

Promiscuous sex is a stupid choice no matter who you are, but rich people have more systems in place to protect them from their own stupid choices, and with better living conditions comes better hygiene, and with better hygiene comes a reduction in the spread of any pathogen.

I suppose this argument really hinges on your model of responsibility. I never denied that anybody was responsible for the choices they make - I'm not saying we need government agencies to swoop in and take responsibility for every unwanted child or STD infection, even though they kinda do - but to hold a race of people responsible for the poor decisions of even an abnormally large part of its population is irrational and pointless. And that is especially true when you take circumstances into account. I'm sorry but if you think the genetics and culture of black people are solely responsible for their statistically higher vulnerability to the consequences of typical human mistakes in the US, then you fail at thinking.

its complicated and i don't know alot of the terminology.  Alot of human behavior is hardwired and extremely subtle.

simple evidence:  people react similarly to stuff.  If people had capacity for independant thought you'd see alot more variety in behavior.

The idea that people aren't responsible for what they do is useful in marketing/politics/architecture/design.  Triggering all these hardwired responses.

Im pretty sure there are white people that do the same thing, but this is exactly what is wrong with our country. No one wants to take it upon themselves to make something with their life. They expect the government AKA MY PAYCHECK to get them somewhere in life.

has it ever occurred to you that they just plain make fewer stupid choices?  A lot fewer stupid choices.  That's kind of what makes them richer.  Fucking hell.

I don't hold the race responsible.  Nor do I grant any race a responsibility excuse.  Individuals are responsible.  Or they aren't and get ruined.  There is no rich person secret that having promiscuous unprotected sex is a bad idea.  It isn't like a secret handshake.
