For me personally, I hit a sweet spot.
I make a hair over a 6 figure salary. It's a lot for me, but not a lot compared to people I know that are lawyers, surgeons, business brokers etc.
But my job is very low stress. I work 40 hours a week. I travel two weeks a year on the organization's expense, I get awesome health benefits, and awesome retirement. Including holidays, I get about 25 days vacation a year, in three years it goes up to 30-35 I can save up to close to 100 days.
IMO it's the sweet spot between working yourself to death for a high salary. In comparison to my surgeon friend that makes 400k a year, I don't have a lot.
But I get my weekends off. I'll never get "called in" at 3 in the morning, I'll never kill anyone, and I won't fall off a ladder or get injured in work. I have a small disposable income and the time to enjoy it.
