I'll agree with that, but I wouldn't consider someone who is bighting and tearing flesh off his opponent and kicking at the balls much of a fighter, the rules(other than the no head butt rule which imo is stupid) is pretty much as legit of fighting as they can get.


also no head stomping or kicking while your opponent is on the ground (in the subpar ufc)


some mma has that though I'm not just going by the ufc either.... man I would love to see fedor stomp someone lol

Well i'm kind of counting weapons as fighting. If I weren't, i would still say in my understanding, the eyes and neck are the two primary targets on a person, both of which are not allowed under mma rules.  Also considering the incredible strength of alot of those guys, there are like wacky body slams and shit that break the neck pretty quick that are disallowed.

much less important than the eyes or neck, ears,nose and mouth are very easy to rip off a person and are probably like secondary targets.  All of which also not allowed, for obvious reasons.

lol i think every fight i've been in i've been kicked in the head while on the ground.

actually now that i'm thinking of it, should we say that gracies?  brazillian ju jitsu pretty much dominated every hand to hand sport.

now a days its still totally required you know a little.  they only started losing when other people started copying them.

And i think their domination of vale tudo is a little more impressive than dominating mma.

No.

Bruce Lee and JKD weren't require for MMA.

MMA standup is more or less a combination of boxing and Muay Thai which were established before Bruce Lee.

Grappling takes it roots from the various styles of wrestling and judo/juijitsu, all of which were established before Bruce Lee.

didn't butterbean fight in pride once or twice?  if thats the guy im thinking of he sucked pretty bad.

anyways the gracies were only good while people were still learning the sport, hence they can't be considered the best fighter of all time.  They did contribute alot to the sport, but yah at todays standards, i wouldn't really consider any of them to be top ranked.  Im going to have to go with fedor, and silva for close second altho he's a broken old man now, back in his prime he had quite the winning streak going, he might not have been the most rounded, but he was one of the funnest fighters to watch
