Larry Carlson: Contact the Star People
http://larrycarlson.com/mp3.htm
one of the craziest experiences I've ever had was listening to that on mushies.
TRULY bizarre and mental music.
(check out his artwork and animations too!)

Shpongle: Ineffable Mysteries from Shpongleland
Just great stuff. Mind-boggling sounds.

Fredrik Ohr: Falling Through the Earth
The most beautiful and wonderful experience of my entire life was listening to this album...
If I could only recommend one, it would be this.

Also, +1 for Aphex. His Drukqs album is a wonder to behold.

I didn't like Bassnectar. i think it's because his, or at least, some, of his tunes sound a bit too flat and hip-hopish (not that I have anything against hip-hop).
I thought it should be renamed to dubhop.

Ok man, first off download all the shpongle albums....Make sure you listen to Divine moments of truth, dorset perception, around the world in a tea daze....just hop around on those albums trippin and itll be more than you can imagine. This is just what your looking for i bet.
Now that shpongle is out of the way.....Maybe try some early pink floyd. Listen to piper at the gates of dawn album trippin, you deffff might not enjoy this one sober but again its that type of music that changes when your out there.
Ok for some lesser known shit. DOwnload arzachel. Listen to the song metempsychosis. Or download Gong...the albums The Radio Gnome Invisible triology. I havent listened to that one tripping yet but i hear that is some of the most out there shit and you can get a small idea listening to it sober.
Boards of Canada is always good for tripping aswell.

LSD-25, the beat the tracks go to are almost the solely defining pillar of different electronic dance music genres. Very few tracks in any electronic genre sway from their tempo/time signature except IDM or ambient stuff, and even still it's usually following a 4/4 timing, there's just so much variation that someone who isn't experienced in writing music would think otherwise.

I think if you joined the main dubstep, breaks, drum&bass & IDM forums on the internet, and just keep on the lookout for tracks & mixes everyone's talking about, you'll be entertained with tonnes of awesome, mind-blowing new sounds for a lifetime.

Anyways, my suggestions for what you're describing are:

Stuff by Venetian Snares

Noisia's new full length album, "Split the Atom"
all of Noisia's drum & bass is BOSS and his sets/mixing skills are elite as well.

BT's second last full length, "This Binary Universe" most of BT's stuff is breaksy trancey stuff, but this is a totally different more ambient/IDMish project that doesn't feature anything in strictly 4/4.

The track by Skream - 2D
