Like most "historic" places in the U.S., the sense of authenticity and cultural preservation is replaced with cheap shot attempts at reeling in tourists with bogus tours, selling crap knick knacks, and otherwise making the place hospitable to old people and nuclear families whose idea of travel is visiting Florida. Yee haw!

Cynical, I know. Opinions should cover the map.

I once got a call from "The Dollhouse" asking if we delivered there....never have I been so mad answering a call telling them no we didn't....

I was snowed in in jacksonville when I was about 10yrs old, coming back from daytona and they'd shut down the highways, never though it was possible

I live 20 minutes from St. Auggy. The place gives off such an awesome energy with the people there to the attractions. Ive had lots of good memories there for sure

I did a lot of rambling around Florida, but I never made it there. It looks like an awesome place to visit. I spent most of my time along the west coast, in the Tampa area. Some of my friends went down there for college so I went down in the summers to take their roomates place in their apartment while she was back home. Those were some of the best times of my life. I will definitely live there some day. :smile:

I didn't travel much until that point.. the first drive I made from St. Louis is something I will never forget. I drove straight through for 16 hours fuelled on ephedrine pills and coffee. Seeing mountains for the first time in Chattanooga as the sun was coming up.. and seeing the ocean and palm trees for the first time. :awesomenod:
