So I'm going to Florida...

...during Christmas time, and I must say it should be very much so different than what I'm use to.

I'm use to snow falling and the central part of America, never been to the south.
  Is crime really that high there? I'm going to travel to Miami Florida, which is supposedly one of the nicer parts of Florida.

Of course I have some relatives down there who want me to go to Disney world(Or is it Disney land?)....I really have no desire to go to that establishment.
 
Also, how common do you see alligators in Florida? I heard they are pretty much everywhere.

This thread has no real point, just want to know a bit about Florida from someone who has been there.

You guessed right. Unless you're staying with all the uber rich. Miami is pretty much my least favorite place in the entire world.

The only reason I ever went to Miami was for the Ultra Music Festival. Other than that I don't care at all for the city. If I were you I would take a trip to the everglades and go on a hover boat tour, visit Tampa for it's art scene, and then end your stay with a blast at the theme parks in Orlando. Also, don't swim in the gulf. :tongue:

I live in Orlando and if you end up going to disney and you plan on staying a full (I mean the whole damn day....  10-12 hours) pay the few dollars extra and get the park hopper pass. I strongly recommend Hollywood Studios (formerly MGM Studios) because it has the Rockin Rollercoaster, Tower of Terror, and an amazing stunt show with motorcycles and cars that jump right though buildings. 

Disney World is in Orlando, FL
Disney Land is in Anaheim, CA


Harry Potter thing is in Universal Studios Islands of Adventure.  If you go there, try to go on a monday or tuesday else you'll be waiting 90 minutes in line for the rides. 

Alligators are very common during the warmer months, like May - October.  They are less active during the winter months.  If you go out on a boat on a big river (St Johns) or big lake (Holy Shit, too many nice lakes too even mention) you may very well see some in near the edge of the water.  If it's nighttime, shine your flashlight toward the edge and you may see the reflection of their eyes.  We also have some cool caves and wilderness trails you might be interested in.

The only place worse than Miami is Orlando. It has all the shit hole qualities of Miami, but with no beaches...

Don't be sorry.  I used to live in Tampa and this is a HUGE improvement.  Oddly enough, I feel much safer in Orlando than when I lived in Tampa.

I used to go Orlando a lot because my ex had family there. It's definitely got a ton of grimy tourist traps scattered about due to the theme park business, but the parks are fun as hell if you visit them on good days. Kissimmee right outside of Orlando towards Tampa also has the tallest skycoaster in the world. That shit was off the wall. Something I definitely recommend.

Florida sucks.

The state smells like mildew. The humidity is oppressive. The people (by and large) are buffoons.

It should be cut free from the rest of the continent and towed to sea. There it should be sank as quickly as possible.

On a positive note, rather than dead skunks by the side of the road..... you have dead armadillos. Their corpses don't smell as bad as dead skunks.
