Kangaroo.
    #12964667 -

Tried some Kangaroo over the weekend. Very lean meat, but extremely tender. Had an interesting taste. Would eat it again if I could get it from somewhere besides a restaurant. Anyone else tried it?

I'm not a fan of anything from the sea. However my gf thinks i would like crab/lobster/shrip. So next trip out for dinner I'm going to look for a nice dish.

For me though, if its a mammal, or a bird. I'm willing to eat it, at least once. There is so much great food out there to try.

I also had quail and wild boar recently, wild boar sucked. maybe it was just the way it was cooked, but it was just tough pork really. not my favorite. the quail was delicious though. like super tender, but fatty, dark chicken meat. yummm

Lobster, shrimp, and crab are all good and if you like them you should try octopus or maybe squid. squid isnt as good, but its easier to find in restaurants. I would definitely try shrimp first. they are a good starting place.

Nah, I'm Canadian. So it has a long trip before it gets to me. I actually just looked online and found a butcher who has it local to me. Not sure what the pricing would be though.

It's nice it's 100% free of antibiotics and the like.

They have a fewother interesting options too. Wouldnt mind trying Kobe beef.

Roo is also very lean so it is good for you. It can be bought fairly cheaply in OZ.

I have shot a few Roos on properties, they often over breed and need to be culled.

All of this is good and so is kangaroo tenderloin. I've also had alligator and bison. Pheasant is awesome but duck, if anyone has not had it, tastes like pork IMO. It's really good.

I love peking duck, traditional style where there bring the whole duck to your table and carve it in front of you. Or in thai red curry.

I cleaned ducks and pheasants at a hunting club some time ago.

A pheasant has a big breast. Duck breast are smaller but it's thier fat that makes them awesome.

Don't ever feel bad about eating kangaroo. They're quite overpopulated in some parts of Australia and they breed like rabbits. Plus, unlike beef or any other consumer meat, kangaroo is a game meat. They are shot in their natural habitat and killed humanely. Them 'roos had a good life they did. I actually refuse to eat any meat besides kangaroo. I was going to become a full fledged vegan, but hey, if the roo's are going to be culled for over population whether anyone eats them or not, I think it would be an injustice not to!

I know a ton of deer are culled by the parks and wildlife people around me. It's nice to know some of them.

I think this weekend I will go down to that shop I mentioned and take a look around. If I can get something decently priced I'll make sure to report back. I'm already planning on getting getting some of this Truffle Pecorino cheese and a bunch of others to sample. Don't want to spend too much.

Ha, I was telling my girlfriend the other day the reason I have to goto college is because of the pricey food I like to try. Makes me want to get back into the food industry.

Any of you guys big into cheeses?
