So how are you making the jump between RFID tags being used to track merchandise and them being used on humans?

how are you not? it's like no one has ever spoken of using this technology in such a way. Walmart is a perfect way to keep track of your cattle.

this is all you need to know about these chips

How are you making the leap from Wal-Mart keeping track of their inventory to government implanted chips

Oh wait, I remember now, extreme paranoia :super:

the fact that you trust fucking WALMART(chinese bazaar) in conjunction with the UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT(proven liars)to tell the truth is a case of extreme naivety.

Cool article, but most of us here on these forums will be long dead before these concerns arise, az far az tracking "the heard" I personally feel we will see revolution before "they" get that far.

Why implant the chips?

Much simpler to require that people keep (chipped) ID cards on them.

Edit- also simpler to track people visually, imho.

Implantation will just be marketed as a matter of convenience, unless of course a superior technology arises between now and then.

Which is visual.
RFID only works at short distances- you could use it at a subway turnstile or airport security gate.
But it's not suitable for area survellance. In a mall, stadium, or airport concourse, RFID just isn't useful.

Fine for losing the card solves that problem easily.

You guys need to bust out Occam's Razor and have a shave.
Surveillance is a legit concern; RFID is not how it will be implemented.

I figure if "they" want to track someone, it could be done the old-fashioned way.  For instance, by watching them.

Perhaps a much more useful (and convenient) method would be to use a cell phone.

Other than that, I don't particularly care if my Wal-Mart underwear has an RFID chip in it (unless of course, it scratches me in an inopportune place).
