Believe me, I flushed the rest of the zoloft down the toilet...anything that makes you not sleep for 4 days is not worth it imo....but I actually felt it.
I felt it, but my heart isn't liking it...so I said fuck it.

when i was young, stupid, and depressed I took triple my dose to see if it would actually have a positive effect on my mood, rather than just numbing.

Guess what. NOTHING!

:ilold: From the Brittney spears thing right?..lol.

But I'm back now and much more sober.

I know a lot of you want to say it takes weeks to feel anything...but I guess when you take 4x the normal dose it is different.
At this point I really don't care if any of you believe me...nor do I wish for anyone else to try zoloft in the manner I did.

Originally I thought some of you should try a bunch to see what I'm talking about...but after many days of not sleeping and occasional heart problems, I can confirm that zoloft really isn't meant for recreational use.

I'm still sticking to my story...it will alter your consciousness(Well mine anyway).
But this site should be used to get accurate, non-lethal information, so I am saying right now, DO NOT TAKE ZOLOFT.
Well...if you need it to function then go ahead, but do not take more than a normal dose, will fuck up your organs.

There ARE effects.

And o.j. simpson, GO FUCK YOUR SELF!:bitchplease:

I felt legitimately "high", I know the feeling...

I really could give a fuck less if any of you believed me...I know what I saw wasn't placebo, and nothing you say will change my opinion.
I was not sober...but actually I do not recommend it, now my heart hurts

People are definitely more likely to get riled up over an inexplicable loss of sex drive than an inexplicable surge...

OP, there are plenty of pharms you can get high on but I'm pretty sure Zoloft is not one of them. It is possible that your headspace is fucked 24/7 from chronic DXM abuse, and have the ability to legitimately get high just by wanting to be high. I have NO experience whatever with SSRIs though, so I'm just basing what I say on what I've read.

AFAIK SSRIs work by modifying brain chemistry in the long term; they have no effect until the brain has developed lasting adjustments to their presence. I don't think they do anything at all in the absence of physical dependency on them.

It doesn't seem like you guys understand half-life.

Say you're on a 20mg dose of a drug, once daily, that has a 48 hour half life.

Day 1: 20mg in your system
Day 2: +20mg, -5mg = 35mg in your system.  (half life is two days, so in one day, you lose 1/4 of the level you had the day before.)
Day 3: +20mg, -8.75mg = 46.25mg in your system
Day 4: +20mg, -11.6mg = 54.65mg in your system
Day 5: +20mg, -13.7mg = 61mg in your system
Day 6: +20mg, -15.3mg = 65.7mg in your system
Day 7: +20mg, -16.4mg = 69.3mg in your system
Day 8: +20mg, -17.3mg = 72mg in your system
Day 9: +20mg, -18mg = 74mg in your system
Day 10: +20mg, -18.5mg = 75.5mg in your system
Day 11: +20mg, - 18.9mg = 76.6mg in your system

Day x: +20mg, -20mg = 80mg in your system
Day x+1: +20mg, -20mg = 80mg in your system.

So you can see that eventually, you'll reach +20mg, -20mg.  At this point, your blood levels will be stable at 80mg.

BUT if you take one 100mg pill, you'll have 100mg in your system in one go.  This completely bypasses the need to wait 2-4 weeks.

Because of this, I have no doubt OP felt some sort of effect, most likely compounded with placebo effects, to cause something somewhat significant.  What those effects were, I have no idea.  I don't really care either.  But brush up on your chemistry before you go about telling people that he could not possibly have felt an effect.  Sure, call him stupid for trying to get high on zoloft.  But you can't call him stupid for feeling effects.

Thanks.

And please, for the love of god, read my post thoroughly and completely before replying.

Quote:
Sertraline hydrochloride (brand name Zoloft) is an antidepressant of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) class. It was introduced to the market by Pfizer in 1991. Sertraline is primarily used to treat major depression in adult outpatients as well as obsessive–compulsive, panic, and social anxiety disorders in both adults and children. In 2007, it was the most prescribed antidepressant on the U.S. retail market, with 29,652,000 prescriptions.[2]

The efficacy of sertraline for depression is similar to that of older tricyclic antidepressants, but its side effects are much less pronounced. Differences with newer antidepressants are subtler and also mostly confined to side effects. Evidence suggests that sertraline may work better than fluoxetine (Prozac) for some subtypes of depression.[3] Sertraline is highly effective for the treatment of panic disorder, but cognitive behavioral therapy is a better treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder, whether by itself or in combination with sertraline.[4] Although approved for social phobia and posttraumatic stress disorder, sertraline leads to only modest improvement in these conditions.[5][6] Sertraline also alleviates the symptoms of premenstrual dysphoric disorder and can be used in sub-therapeutic doses or intermittently for its treatment.

Sertraline shares the common side effects and contraindications of other SSRIs, with high rates of nausea, diarrhea, insomnia, and sexual side effects; however, it does not cause weight gain, and its effects on cognition are mild. The unique effect of sertraline on dopaminergic neurotransmission may be related to its favorable action on cognitive functions.[7] In pregnant women taking sertraline, the drug was present in significant concentrations in fetal blood, and was also associated with a higher rate of various birth defects. Similarly to other antidepressants, the use of sertraline for depression may be associated with a higher rate of suicidality. Due to the rarity of this side effect, statistically significant data are difficult to obtain, and suicidality continues to be a subject of controversy.Among the common adverse effects associated with sertraline and listed in the prescribing information, those with the greatest difference from placebo are nausea (25% vs. 11% for placebo), ejaculation failure (14% vs. 1% for placebo), insomnia (21% vs. 11% for placebo), diarrhea (20% vs. 10% for placebo), dry mouth (14% vs. 8% for placebo), somnolence (13% vs. 7% for placebo), dizziness (12% vs. 7% for placebo), tremor (8% vs. 2% for placebo) and decreased libido (6% vs. 1% for placebo).[122] Those that most often resulted in interruption of the treatment were nausea (3%), diarrhea (2%) and insomnia (2%).[122] Sertraline appears to be associated with microscopic colitis, a rare condition of unknown etiology.[123]
