I'm trying to find a roommate to rent out the other room in my apartment via craigslist, but any time I list anything on craigslist the only people who respond are Nigerians (thanks email IP tracer ).

Why the fuck would Nigerians try to scam "roommate wanted" ads?  It doesn't make any sense.

They offer to pay two month's rent in one lump sum check that is rounded up. They are "trusting" you to take what is required and then send them the remainder of the check back in the mail.

The catch is their check is fake, but the money you send back is real -- and by the time it clears you are the one who suffers.

At least rick-roll them or link re-direct them to tubgirl.
