Cluster headaches... help?

Do any of you suffer from this bullshit? If so, what, if anything works for you? I can feel a cycle about to start and I really don't have the time/energy to devote to trying to survive this every 3 to 4 months. Im sick of this condition making me want to :suicide:

Usually I can break a cycle completely with a 4g+ dose of shrooms followed by minor subsequent dosing when I get a ringer, but sometimes that doesn't work. The doctor currently has me on Verapamil and has prescribed me an oxygen tank, which I have yet to purchase because it didn't do much when I tried it... though to be fair I have only given it one try. They also have given me Sumatriptan which is good for relief from a headache but does absolutely nothing for ending a cycle, not to mention how gd expensive it is.

From my research on the subject (especially through MAPS.org) i've found that that substances containing the Indole Ring structures (ie: melatonin, mescaline, psylocybin, LSD, ect) seem to be the kyroptonite of this condition. The next form of treatment that im currently considering is mescaline via San Pedro. I am curious if any clusterheads can tell me what is personally most effective and what does not work from your experiences. Advice from others knowledgeable on this would be appreciated as well. Help?

I've had them once before, but I have only had a series of attacks once in a span of a couple weeks.  I couldn't even stand, felt like puking.  I hope you find a way to relieve them!

Psylocybin doesnt work for you? I was given some Percocets a while back. They didn't do much for the headache as far as i could tell but they sure felt good. Im a gd rahtard and fucked myself out of a connection by telling the doctor that. :nonono: Its probably for the best though.  I only took them 3 times for the actual headache. All the rest were taken whilst playing guitar. I know... that's abuse brotha

How often do the headaches occur for you? Ive been getting them for about 11 years now. At first they didn't occur very often and were not very severe. Now they are excruciating and I get them about every 3 to 4 months, happen 1 to 2 times every day, and they cycle lasts for about 15 days. Do you have a pattern to yours?

I appreciate the input btw. I read other's posts on here and thought about sending them messages with my questions and whatnot but many of them have not been active for long periods of time. With a prevalence rate of between 56 and 326 people per 100,000, it makes it kind of hard to find others who have been through this. Im trying to get info out of the clusterbusters forum as well. I have an intense desire to end this suffering, not only for myself but for others as well.

Have you tried perhaps a DMT dose to combat them?

Taking a heavy shroom dose will last 8 hours, but maybe you could break the cycle with a 15 minute DMT trip.

Damn I never thought of that. Well ive considered a lot of different possibilities but not the time factor involved. Whenever I start to get a headache I just munch up a gram or if time and circumstance permits i make a 2g tea. Its not enough to trip usually, but I do start to feel a little funny and disoriented and it lasts for a while. Not fun (well not always) when you have important things to do. A short lived DMT trip is a damned good idea especially if it can break a cycle. Although I currently do not have access to DMT, it is something I will definitely look into. I get them, and every other sort of headache. I was diagnosed at first and for ten years with bad facial pain which is true. That doctor gave me drugs to help clear my sinuses so I could shut my face when I sleep, also butalbitol, a barbituate with caffeine and apap, also he gave me xanax and/or valium. The valium seems to help the best.  Unfortunately it's very addictive - and subtle so one doesn't realize it, but at the tail end of the 12 hour half life of valium one falls into a depression for 45 minutes. The key then is to maintain some valium in ones bloodstream. All this a doctor will tell you. 

Esgic/Fioricet worked well for cluster headaches for me, but made me quite drunkenly stupid and unable to work.  Especially on top of xanax and valium.  I then quit them all switched to hydrocodone, which has been an issue forever. Doctors do not like to treat patients with opioids and are not supposed to prescribe them for more than three months tops. If you need them more then that's considered chronic pain and they will always try to send you to chronic pain clinics. Also, it will be hard to prove your headaches to them without something showing on an MRI.

First you will be sent to a neurologist. If they find nothing specific then you will be discharged. 

You might have issues with your neck or back or face which create this condition.  If you are really serious about getting rid of the headaches without medicating them away then a light hatha yoga course to follow every other day can perhaps really help.

Relying on medicine is not a cure. As you know.  I have to say that my ENT was really good and he seemed to hit the nail on the head. It wasn't until I had relieved my facial pain and headaches (through a steady diet of meds) that I realized that my entire spinal cord ached all the way down to my thighs and up through my neck into my head.  One doctors told me I probably have 'facet syndrome' which I just described and which causes headaches. So I apparently have more going on than mere facial pain. I am a chef and have taken quite a beating in my life, enduring conditions like whiplash rather frequently, yes, running into walls and other things.

I am still in progress towards this issue. I have been trying to get on with a pain clinic but my last try fell through because I asked for too many drugs and got pinned with a 'doctor shopping' discharge. Which rather pissed me off, but these doctors are sketchy so before you start asking for specific meds, endure the doctor's skepticism and describe your issues to a doctor that you like (which may be difficult ot find).  I have found some good doctors in the past. Damn eve, it sounds as though you have definitely been made to endure more than your fair share. I hope you find release from your ailments in the not so distant future.

I have tried taken xanax. It seemed to facilitate the headache in a similar fashion as nicotine does. It may have just been coincidence though. I do get severe pain in the back of my neck, jaw, face, and ocular globe but it only occurs slightly before and during an actual headache attack. The pain foreshadows an impending attack.

Have you ever tried tryptamines for your headaches?

Yeah - everyone is different and you want an adequate dose. Better to trip a little than hurt while you resist your cycle.
None of the prescriptions listed here are as effective usually, none of them are healing or curative in any way and ALL of them are really not so good for your body.
I would hope for the DMT as an adjunct or alternative but I haven't seen anything on it with regards to effect or duration.
Any organic with something actually good for you about it is preferable to chemical inundation every time.
I wouldn't complain so much with the chemistry as the adjunct and the organic as the primary, it's just usually a suffering waste of time anymore when everyone knows about the psybe approach.
I would tell anybody that was better.

Thanks for the confederacy. I haven't specifically tried Trypts but I would, but I don't advocate using hallucinogens for psychiatric or even physical healing since my experience with hallucinogens has had conflicting results.  Send me some DMT and I'll let you know how it goes :wink:

Back when I was researching Morning Glory and Hawaiian Baby Woodrose, I remember reading that the LSA that is in MG and HBWR is great for treating cluster headaches because it stops the headaches for a while (forgot how long) and it breaks the cycle. Its worth looking into.

Yeah I too have read numerous articles regarding LSA and CH but have yet the personally try this method myself. Ive talked with several clusterheads now that recommend and even sware to the efficacy of LSA/LSD treatments. It is definitely something I will look into. Thanks for the feedback.
