A couple of Amanita muscaria questions
    #8944173 -

Hello, I am very new to Shroomery, and I put up this topic because even after a series of searches I could not find answers to my questions that I want to ask here now.

1) How fast a process is decarboxylation if you dont heat the mushrooms, but dry them in normal room temperature? Im into chemistry (studying it now, maybe aiming for a work that deals with stuff like that) and I know that decarboxylation can be sped up by heat and boiling amanita muscaria in, for example, soda lime. But what if you dont have access to heat or soda lime?

2) Will temperatures around 100 °C (212 °F for our American friends) destroy muscimol or ibotenic acid? Wikipedia says that the melting point of muscimol is 184-185 °C (363.2 - 365 °F), so at least it doesnt melt in my oven, but can it dissolve or do something unexpected to lose its effects?

There is a Search Posts feature that will more rapidly get you answers to your question.

And my guess is that drying at room temperature will not convert the ibotenic acid over to muscimol.  Either buy pre-dried Amanitas, or invest the time to dry them properly if you don't want neurotoxicity.

I have eaten large amounts of heated amanitas and experienced no effects.
