Musicians: Helpful basic theory Key chart!
    #1279991 -

Ok, i'm started composeing for an ensable, so i made this helpful key chart cause i don't have everything memorized yet. for me, at least, it make composing much easier. I bored and i figured i'd share it with you, who knows maybe it will help!

So this is the Note chart for Major and Minor keys
the first note is your Root, and the relative minor is the 6th, or second to last note. playing these notes in order would give you a diatonic scale. removeing the 4 and the 7 would give you a pentatonic scale. its only a major or minor depending on which note you start.

although you can play these notes in any order and still be in key

KEY CHART

example: Key of A major. F# is the relative minor.
A B C# D E F# G#

A# C D D# F G A

B C# D# E F# G# A#

C D E F G A B

C# D# F F# G# A# C

D E F# G A B C#

D# F G G# A# C D

E F# G# A B C# D#

F G A A# C D E

F# G# A# B C# D# F

G A B C D E F#

G# A# C C# D# F F#

So that covers Notes, now as far as chords go, here is the triad Chart. It follows the same formula. all of the chords use the same notes as the scales in the same key.
Example, an A major chord uses an E an A and a C#

Triads

A Bm C#m D E F#m G#*

A# Cm Dm D# F Gm A*

B C#m D#m E F# G#m A#*

C Dm Em F G Am B*

C# D#m Fm F# G# A#m C*

D Em F#m G A Bm C#*

D# Fm Gm G# A# Cm D*

E F#m G#m A B C#m D#*

F Gm Am A# C Dm E*

F# G#m A#m B C# D#m F*

G Am Bm C D Em F#*

G# A#m Cm C# D# Fm F#*

*= diminished
m = minor
if the letter has no sign, its a major chord.

just remember that you can use play any notes of a specific key, with any chords of the same key to create harmony in various amounts. By throwing in accedentals, you can create distain.

the idea is to build up distain, and resolve it with harmony, and back and fourth.

if anyone sees any typo's please let me know, so i can fix them
peace :-)

pretty good layout.

You could also show this:
The Circle of Fifths

that's got all keys, rel. minor, and number of # or b. Just go up a 5th for each (C -> G -> D...)

I'm a music major, so i'm kinda forced to remember this stuff. But the circle of fifths helped me a lot to arrange keys.

Whole whole half whole whole whole half
