Musicians...Shrooms or LSD?
    #1914087 - 09/13/03 11:50 PM (13 years, 2 months ago)

Hello I just wanted an opinion from you guys about these 2 wonderful substances. First off...Im an inspiring musician and as always..we are looking for a way to expand our minds. I dont drink...rarely smoke or do any other drugs..besides mushrooms. I like to eat less than a half a dose of shrooms and just have a nice music session a few times a month. I dont really eat them recreationally but rather for musical enhancement. I have done LSd a few times at parties but never for musical purposes. I liked the buzz from LSD but hated the unnatural hangover afterwards. Which do you guys think is better for expanding the mind in the musical sense. LSD or MUshrooms?

That's a hard one. I can't think of one being any better I suppose.

I think acid easily wins this competition, but that's just my experience.

I am not a muscian and have never taken acid but I have taken mushrooms and I have attempted at playing a harmonica while on them and it was probably the best feeling I've had in a long time. When I played and closed my eyes I could feel the notes, color in my minds eye. I couldn't put it down and it never left my pocket.

I haven't played it since though so I'm a pretty shitty example. But damn, hot damn.

For me it's always been mushrooms that do the trick. Acid is pretty fun but it usually gives me a dirty strung-out feeling. I remember taking mushrooms and picking up my bass, I just felt totally in tune with it and i kept coming up with all these crazy riffs that sounded flawless. I also ate mushrooms before a couple shows i've played and I've always had a great time with them.

1.-Mushrooms are natural, LSD is chemical.
2.-LSD nowadays is not what Mr. Hoffman got in the Sandoz Laboratories, it?s mixed with some other shit (hangover). I?ve heard of mixing it with rat poison.
3.- Ask the CIA, they still have some of the LSD they stole from the Sandoz Laboratories when they decide to ilegalize it. Probably that LSD will not give you any hangover.
3.- Man, can you really play music on shrooms? I mean, I?m musician too (drummer) and it?s impossible for me to play with others while shrooming.

I think I would say acid..it's more cerebral...and you can really get into the music while tripping.
Shrooms.. with a light dose..can be just as fun with music. Though I tend to not be able to focus on the instrument for too long, or laugh uncontrollably
But then again, I once ate some shrooms with the lead guitar player of my band, and we picked up two guitars and jammed on some synchronized spontaneously amazing shit for like two hours straight..best jam I can remember.
So yeah... psychadelics are cool..but I mostly play sober, or stoned. LSD and shrooms both have their qualities.

definetly acid, cuz if u take a nice hit and jus pick up the axe plug it in ull have some serious fun, but like fer sessioning i say shrooms, but definetly acid is the best to play music on we are trippin on cid we all go to the basement and play some intruments im sure it sounds like shit but to us its so much fun. LSD hands down fer fun factor, but fer sessions and shit id go with shrooms even tho if ur serious about sessioning u go straight or on some really good sativa.

Sadly no... it was a spontaneous jam..remembered only by our memories
Not to say we couldn'y eat shrooms again and have another equally amazing jam (if not better..that was 2 years ago..we're better musicians now)

usually i end up jamming alone while on lsd, always acoustic. i prefer playing ambient/harmonic stuff with acid because it allows more room for real abstract improvisation. on a high dose of mushrooms and lsd a real talented friend and i jammed out and preferred more intense, open strumming. seemed to be more appropriate with the closed eye activity going on behind the eyelids...definitly better playing with another tripping soul. also improv is alot more interesting than rehearsed material, at least in my experience. lsd!

Im a concert pianist and an audio engineer working as a head tech down the street.  I want to be a electronic-Rabbit in the moon-intelligent poetry musician and I find that small doses of shrooms enhance my creativity when Im Jammin on the piano.  Last year in High school I was messin around with some cid but I find my self to frazzled to get anything done.  And when under the influence on High doses of any kind of psychadelic....Anything sounds tight   I am even open to anykind of legal herbal extracts that enhance creativity...Ive heard that B vitamins and Ginkbo have the reputation for brain vitality.  I would appreciate any more insight.

Acid was a bit too "fun" for me compared to shrooms.... Acid seemed too "friendly" it seemed easier to get into binges with lsd but that's just from my experience - a lot of it has to do I think with which one you discovered first

Not itself, but some of the substances that compose rat poison are used.

No offense my friend, but you have been misinformed about LSD.

I have to agree with monoamine when he says that LSD easily takes the cake. I've found that mushrooms, while entirely transforming my perspective of what I'm doing, do not blast open the doors of creativity the way LSD does. Some of the compositions that were pushed out of me by LSD are completely outside the sphere of musicianship I had been residing in. LSD, once departed, leaves those boundries somewhat more permanently stretched as well. Also, LSD does not seem to interfere so much with my ability to orient myself with my instrument.

I much prefer LSD for creative application.

I've never tried LSD although I would if I could fucking find some...but anyway, I found it damn hard to play music on mushrooms. I haven't tried playing my drums while tripping, but I tried playing my guitar and it was damn hard, I just couldn't concentrate.

Its true there is no way I would be able to play my instruemnts if I was tripping my nuts off from shrooms. Thats why I say "low doses". I suggest giving it a shot if you dont believe me. From my experiences as well as the experiences of my friends...I will have to say that I hallucinate Alot more on mushrooms than I have on acid when I actually want to "trip" Then again I havent eaten hardcore Black geltabs either.
