Goddamn Landlords

Lets this client piss around all week in this semi-empty house (was supposed to be empty Monday). Then doesn't call back...doesn't have a goddamn spine. Loses the keys...so now its Friday, need to be moved in ASAP like...over a weekend.

Instead, the original client still has shit in the house "apparently" we looked in the house, its empty.

Now we only get the keys on Monday...have to move after work instead over a weekend and have to be out by Tuesday and cleaned. I could fucking kill someone right now. Namely the landlord and his sissy client. :kingcrankey:

could be worse

for example, the day im supposed to move into my place in a duplex (one top one bottom unit) we were supposed to be the top unit because the one down stairs was a POS and had piss smell and a tiny ass living room.

well I roll up, with all of mine and my roomates stuff, and he says hes cleaning out our unit, and hes cleaning the bottom one. I said um fuck that We shook hands, you  called me to verify, and you still say i have the downstairs unit? "oh well no harm no foul" was his response. I had no where else to move to and neither did my friends. So we got stuck there, paid for carpet cleaning because of the piss smell even tho he said he would and didnt.

fuck dumb ass landlords

There's no doubt some landlords are assholes, however... try being one sometime for a different perspective.

Here's just a sampling of things that have happened to me as a landlord:

Tenants that steal all the lightbulbs when they leave.
Tenants who allowed their dogs into the cubbies where the dogs preceded to shit and piss all over the place.
Tenants who allowed their ferrets to run free in the cabinets and heat ducts, all of which had to be replaced because of the stink. Ferrets were, by the way, not allowed in the lease.
Tenants who have money for beer, dope and rental electronics that would make most envious, yet don't have money for rent.
Tenants who despite a no repairs on the premises clause in the lease decide to yank an automatic transmission without draining it first.
Tenants who allow their pets to run free outside and then complain when their apartment gets infested with fleas.
Tenants who run out of heating oil and rather than saying something, allow the pipes to freeze and rupture.
Tenants who leave broken windows and holes in the walls yet complain when they don't get their full (or any)security deposit back.
Tenants who let their pets piss and shit on the carpets.

I could go on but......

your new landlord sounds like an asshole.

that's bullshit. i went through a very similar experience recently. actually only ended up getting the keys because i randomly showed up at the place as the other dude was moving out and he was kind enough to give me his set. haven't spoken to my landlord since we signed the lease because he never answers his phone or emails..

I used to have a landlord that would really squeeze cash out of her tenants and send in people to threaten you if you attempted legal action. This was my first room and the first time living on my own, and I hadn't quite read up on what a legal rent contract should look like.

I found out that the contract was not legal only after signing, but thought oh well, no problems yet. But then it started, she got this drunk that would piss in his room living with us, which I did not enjoy. Also she would never fix anything, on time the toilet overflowed and it took her a week to finally do something about it.

Then a tenant left and never returned the keys so she wanted the lock on the front door replaced and she sent in some douchebag that never touched a lock in his life.

He was trying to fit a lock that was way too small and left a GAP where one could easily insert a crowbar. I told him to stop what he was doing, put the old lock on and that I would contact the landlord. She then phoned me asking me what the hell I thought I was doing, I told her she was to send a certified locksmith or shut the fuck up because I wasn't about to let my stuff get stolen. She told me she thought the guy should've beat me up so I said bring it. Apparently he came round when I wasn't there, and I advised her she could not possibly win this as I was already checking legal options and I had my two dutch lawbooks by my side.

Nothing happened after that, and I finally ended the rent and moved to a different city and she had the balls to send me a letter that I owed her 800 euro. I wrote back that she could go fuck herself and never let her know my new location. Landlords can really be bitches!

Later she was in the news as she was awarded the landlord from hell award by some youth politics party. She was in a lawsuit with the city but miraculously won it. Wouldn't be surprised if she's still out there extorting poor students.

Well yeah! But now I live with 6 friends and the landlord from heaven with ultra low rent, on the third floor in an old building in the city center, and I'm only 1km away from uni! So I guess maybe there is such a thing as karma afterall :P
