Never had a dreamcast, but I absolutely LOVED my old sega genesis. Sonic FTW...

Eventually it broke when some shit got spilled on it though...

Sega always had the best systems. They made some terrible marketing decisions, but I'm sorry the Saturn was clearly superior to the PlayStation for at least the first two years, and the Dreamcast is one of the greatest tragedies in the history of video games. I just don't see video games the same way anymore now that Sega has bowed out and been purchased by Sammy.

The Dreamcast could seriously do fucking anything.

And Shenmue owns you.

This is likely due to a drive speed calibration, it can even cause discs to not spin at all eventually but, luckily it's an easy fix.  If you run a google search about the discs not spinning at all you'll find a simple tutorial.  It's basically just taking the cover off and near the laser you'll find a small nob, you just turn it left or right (just barely) until any error with the discs go away.  Another tip, burn games at the absolutely lowest speed possible.

Anyone ever play cosmic smash?  It's like curve ball here on the shroomery with a mix of breakout :thumbup:

You can still buy BRAND NEW dreamcasts through amazon lol, I'm thinking of ordering another one to keep in the box, it'll be worth money in 30 years.

oh man im shattered to find out you can burn and paly games on dreamcast for free. i used to have one man it was awesome. marvel vs capcom 2, shenmue, and power stone were my main games.

wow. would that sega dreamcast on amazon, be playable in australia? or is it one of those zone things or powercord specific type things??? i would kill for a new dreamcast playable in australia??

if you burn games, region doesn't mean anything.  I play PAL games on my NTSC as most of them have a 50/60htz selector before you play.  There are so many ISO's out now that are pre-modified as well.

im sure the game would work. but what im unsure about is if i purchase one of these machines from america - that im asuming are the ntsc american console system, will the plugs it come with, not work in australia? or is there a way to get australian plugs that will fit an american dreamcast??

now that i know i can download all the games im very interested in buying a dreamcast again, and especially when their so cheap.

EDIT - ive been doing some reading and it says that the current and amps produced by america and australian power points are different, and so to run the console in australi i would need a transformer of some sorts. damn.

Anyone ever have SEGA Channel for the original SEGA? That was the most ahead of its time invention of all time. You hooked it up to your cable line and got a new list of 50 or so games to play every month for like 10 bucks/mo. Nothing will ever beat that.

i hope so, im going to look into it and see if its worthwhile.

because i mean hey roughly $90 for the dreamcast and maybe some money for a vmu is small potatoes when you think it gives you access to just about any game ever made on dreamcast right?

i mean id fork out that money just to play marvel vs capcom 2 and capcom vs snk 1 & 2 and power stone and crazy taxi adn all those awesome games they have on dreamcast.

dreamcast is the shit. I used to play phantasy star online all day (until they discontinued the servers). Also shenmue, ooga booga, powerstone and the 2K sports series were all amazing.
