First edible find!!! (Indigo Milky)
    #12765801 - 06/18/10 08:20 PM (13 years, 9 months ago)

Wasn't really looking (although if you're a forager, aren't you always "looking"?) but stumbled upon this beautiful Indigo Milky fruiting in my own front yard.

Took some photos, brought it inside and successfully identified it. Cleaned it off, sauted it in butter and ate it right up.

Felt kind of bad eating such a beautiful fruit of the forest.

It had a hint of a peppery taste to it. Kind of hard to identify exact tastes since my knowledge of edibles is extremely minimal.

Didn't taste horrible nor like "heaven in a pan" either. Least now we know the Indigo Milkys are fruiting, keep an eye out!

Can't believe you've never found them Bob. I always find them in the mountains populated with Oaks.
