Yes, it's a serious question, a bit rhetorical, but serious nonetheless.

Well, if it's serious - I'll answer by saying:

The world can donate hoards of money to Africa, but until the governments of African nations become less riddled with corruption and short-sightedness, then Africans will be fucked.  As long as there is economic strife in one country, you can be sure their neighbor will be hurt by the hoards of immigrants seeking better opportunities.

Africa can ONLY be fixed from the INSIDE.

Because the pub is filled with idiots. Offline poll with people in a certain are, they wouldn't 2 shits about druggies getting caught by cops; it's their own fault! I mean even druggies would be like "fuck that". If asked about the starving people africa, it'll be that same thing, people don't usually care about people outside of their circle.

Take form what you please, sir

I'd rather start my own organization. And I'll be damned if I don't. I'm young and capable. My money is better spent other places as of now considering my age(22).

And no, I'm not making excuses. I could care less about the typical "get fucked up and die" mindset lol. I'm big into investing in things that deliver solid results and help others long term.

Then you should invest in medium-scale projects in Africa.  The problem with most of the Aid africa gets is that it's in two forms large-scale aide (government to government) or microlending (Gramene Bank [misspelled that]).  While microlending helps individuals, it'd be better if we coudl get more medium-scale projects, that could help an entire community.  For example:

Buying a decent fishing boat, building a dock & a processing warehouse can turn the economic tide for hundreds of individuals.  The ability to bring in more fish will (a)create jobs, and (b)lower the price of fish, which will spur trade, providing more jobs - for fish salesman, for people transporting fish inland from the port towns, etc.

Dude, you read my mind. I'm all about the business aspect of things. Creating jobs is the best charity ever. Second is proper education. The problem in Africa is they're so focused on the children when really they need to focus on the whole picture.

The kids are the future, yes, but the adults still decide their futures out of their own greed and impend their culture upon the younger generation. Africa needs a full-scale economic revolution and the only way that's going to happen is if individual people with passion get the grapes to start solid trade and education practices throughout separate countries. The problem is governments don't want that and the big corporations involved are only in it for profit. They have no competition.

Like you said, mid-scale configuration is the key. The middle-class system is one of the only things holding America's infrastructure together. That's a solid example and goes to show the necessity for that type of involvement in Africa.

My guess is because people in Africa, and other entirely shitty, dire circumstances (relatively speaking) are WAY far removed from our mind's eye.

It's too distant to even imagine what it's like.

On the other hand, being middle class and busted for pot.  Well, that's something many can imagine and/or have experienced.
