I was woundering if there were mushrooms that look similar to chantrelles that are poisonous to eaT?

All of those are chanterelles.  (Cantharellus lateritius)

Omphalotus illudens can look similar to chanterelles but is toxic.  It differs by growing on wood and having real gills instead of just ridges.

yay thanks i found my first mushrooms.  i was out all day during morel season and didnt find anything.  and so many people i know were finding them by the bag.

One of my Chanterelle patches started fruiting here in SW Ohio.  I got a good dozen nice-sized ones yesterday.  It was a good dinner.  These might be my favorite edible I've tried so far.

I have picked up three different species of chantrelle so far just in the past week :mushroom2:







I tried some of the red ones. Mushrooms (eating them anyway) aren't really my thing but they are definitely edible:thumbup:

omg i ate them for dinner last night breakfast and lunch today so far thery are amazing.  i will go back out on saturday.  they dont dehydrate to good do they?  Is there a good way to preserve them?

Chantarelles really are amazing! They go well with everything! I've been eating them every day for the past week, and still got few kilos left. I found yesterday the most amazing and simple chantarelle casserole recipe, so delicious!
Actually they do dehydrate very well, and retain their aroma, but don't reconstitute so great. I've been experimenting with that, and I think they can be dried and then ground up and used in meals. Also sauteing and freezing apparently works very well. But my favorite way is to pickle them and eat as "salad", taste and texture remain amazing.

Yes I wondering about picklein them I will try that with half and maybe try that casserole if u can send the recipe.  I was also thinking to try and make a ice cream.

you can dry chantarelles and reconstitute them later to use in whatever dish you are making, they store pretty well when dried.
