I got scammed by a "psychic"

I built a website for his business and then he didn't pay me and cut communication ties. I never should have trusted a fucking psychic.

Small claims court, $15 filing fee and you might get to take him on Judge Judy.

Yeah, if you went through a freelance site, they'll usually get on their case after 90days.

I've been screwed for about 3k this year so far by foreign dicks. but my freelance site will drag their business through the mud on teh intarwebz to make them pay up.

New policy = no foreign dicks.

North America FTW.

I also believe there are collections agencies that will help you out for a fee.

you built a site, then turned it over to somebody you didn't even know in real life before you got paid for it???  come on maaaaannnnn. you know better than that. Not saying you deserve this like some people would. but you still coulda protected yourself just a little. 

If you sell somebody a car, do you transfer the title to them, give them the car, and tell them to just mail you a check? hell no. same thing here, different car.

exactly. I've still got backdoors built into every site I ever designed. I would never use them for malicious purposes, mainly its just in case the site owner can't remember their login info. But yeah, I could bring down any of those sites if I felt like it.

Why not just contact the website's domain hosting company and tell them about it.
I'm sure they will be able to do something about it, perhaps shut off the website until you receive your pay.

I doubt a domain host would get involved in this.  If you clean apartments for a living, and somebody doesn't pay their bill, you don't just go complain to the property manager. Its he said she said, and most companies are going to tell you its between you to and you need to handle it civilly.

Okay, I didn't actually build it, but I gave him a lot of consultation on how to set it up, market it, integrate it into a business, set up a shopping cart and so on. Stuff any idiot could have looked up on his own. It's not even up yet. I was going to build it, but he changed the plan. It only came to around $120 anyway.

I appreciate the offers to scat on his business and so on, but I mostly just wanted to confess my stupidity in this dealing.
