The company I work for scams the fuck out of people every day.
    #10950627 -

I work for a small business as a service technician but I have taken on the extra responsibility of doing all the billing for the service department as well.

We are in the business of selling and delivering supply items to large corporations and repairing their office equipment.

These companies pay us to go out and take an inventory of their supplies and refill as needed. All they have to do is pay the bill.

After I deliver these items, my boss goes right behind me and steals them back for resell on a regular basis.

I am constantly asked to bill customers for way more work than we really did and the markup is in the 300% range as it is.

I was recently rear-ended in the work van and the bumper was already really jacked up from several wrecks in the past. I didn't call the police to file a report but I got her info just in case. My boss made her pay $1000.00 for the bumper and I still drive around with the same jacked up bumper to this day.

This is just the tip of the iceberg.

:awesome:

Sounds like a solid business plan to me.

I work for a business who scams people all day too.  The boss is the greediest person I have ever met in my life.  The money bags in his eyes have blinded him to the fact that his smaller profits from scamming people is ruining his company.  For every 100 times he scams someone for a $1, he loses a $200 dollar account.  But the win to loss ratio is 100:1, so he doesn't realize that he's actually losing $100 bucks.  I also do some billing and I file everything.  I see all, and am sickened.

I forgot to mention that I take many of these supply items and sell them through online sources as well.

I easily bring home an extra $2,000.00 a month.

Although my boss tells me to steal from customers all the time, I will never tell him I do because I know the money would be going right into his pocket.

Shit, if people are too fucking lazy to make sure their shit is done correctly or if they are rich enough to hire people to worry about things like that, then I say cheers.

This.

To OP, you are just as slimy as he is if you are stealing from the customers and charging them an arm and a leg.

that whole post could of been written by me. It kinda scared me to read it a little cause It basically summed up what I do with my work. I got to the point where if my customer I'm helping is nice and honest and an all around good person, I'll go out of my way to help them for as little as possible.. but if they are assholes to me they will pay out the ass to make up for the difference.

Basically every company in America is in the business of scamming the people. From this kind of stuff to $5.00 coffees that cost 45 cents to make to minimum wage, the WHOLE THING is about getting as much as you can for as little effort as possible.

Some people just take it all the way and steal, and why not? Does anyone here want to argue that if Nike or Apple or Exxon could figure out a way to quit providing products that cost money to produce and just get people's money, they wouldn't do it?

The world as we know it, yes, is coming to an end. And we can learn from past mistakes and make it a better place, or sit back and do nothing.

I choose reinvention.

I couldn't decide if this is an example of caveat emptor or if you're just an immoral douche. Then I realized they aren't actually mutually exclusive.

That's no different than any other business.

I hope you realize the legal consequences you are facing. No longer do people get off from this shit. A lot of them end up doing a substantially shorter prison sentence than poor people, but a prison sentence none the less.

If I understand the meaning of caveat emptor correctly then, yes, both are likely to be the case.

I know that some of the things that I do are immoral but when it comes to paying the bills, I do what I have to do. I don't drive a nice car, I don't live in a fancy house, and I try not to buy expensive items that I have no practical use for.

In the mean time I've been going to school to get a degree so that one day I won't have to be so lucrative.
:scott:

Can you honestly say that you have never taken part in an immoral act?
Don't be so quick to judge.

I'm the exact opposite, if a customer seems very nice and a genuinely good person I'll try to fuck them over as much as possible and if they're a complete asshole, like me, I'll give them the best deal. It's my way of trying to get nice people to wake up to the "real world" and become as jaded as me.

haha I'm the same way as the other guy. I love my job and I'm great at it. When I walk into an office I offer my services to the best of my ability and I treat their money as if it were my own. I don't sell myself to the company that I work for and offer the advice that they would prefer because I get my satisfaction from smiling customers that know that I really do give a fuck even if it means telling someone that there is a better deal elsewhere.

Then again, I do sometimes bill people according to how stupid they look.

Also I notice when I'm extra nice to the higher class customers who are clearly more educated and are nicer to me, they usually call the owner of my company saying really nice things about me. The company may not bring in as much money on that customer but what they say makes it very easy to get a raise in the near future. Those customers usually pay 50-100 dollars for the visit where usually for the same work with someone else I'll bring in 200-250. I bring in about 10,000-15,000 dollars a month just by myself. As long as i'm bringing the money in my boss's are happy. For the most part I take care of my company and they take care of me and I can do this with selecting customers here and there to give various discounts to. Like yesterday I didnt bill someone for 60 dollars cause they were having finacial problems and they were very sincere and sweet and werent yelling at me that what we charge is highway robbery. I more than made up for the loss of 60 dollars with my next customer.

When things are slow, instead of sitting around the shop all day twittling my thumbs together like the other technicians I will go out door to door offering my services at a slightly discounted price and not charging for the trip out to their house/business and I bring in extra money this way that we would not otherwise obtain which is just another way to take care of the people who are writing me a check every week for my services.
