I raise awareness about it wherever I go, I just dont believe in writing politicians to get anything done.

I prepare myself

help people in preparing
switched to renewable electricity (90+% hydroelectric, not fake-green like palm oil/biomass)

(1) Just as there is a difference between self-defense and murder, there is a difference between self-interest and greed. The former will help Wiccan Seeker become independent of a system headed for disaster, and I'll bet he would be willing to at least tell you how he did it. On the other hand, greed is when, like the automotive industry who lobbied to rid the U.S. of its train and bus systems, you simply eliminate the competition -- creating the irony that to approximate a free market, we must regulate against unfair business practices. In fact, meams, I am surprised that you, as Joe Econ Student and Free Market Guy, aren't all over self-interest. That was Ayn Rand's whole schtick, wasn't it? Atlas Shrugged? The Fountainhead?

(2) A living Wiccan Seeker can probably help out more effectively than a dead one.

This video is worst case scenerio.

Some of what it says is downright :fonda:

10 years? Try at least 25 most likely 50.

I am an environmental and resource studies major, researched plenty on oil depletion. The studies are far from being concrete, it is incredibly difficult to make any assumption about the current amount of oil that exists in reserves. This guy is one in a sea of experts on the subject...I have read some statistics that show we will have enough oil for atleast 100 years from now, some say 75, others 50. And yes there is always the everyone run we have 10 years left AHHHHHHH crowd.

For example, some thing usually missed out by these doomsayers, are things like changes in the global climate are beginning to give us access to shipping routes that we never had before, particularly in the north pole. There is quite a lot of projected reserves in the north pole, numbers are still difficult to tell, but we always never searched due to no shipping ability. Now we do have this and just about one year or two ago, companies began to explore and exploration takes years many times in such a new type of landscape such as the north pole. Remember the north pole isnt just ice, it is ice covering land.

Also, the extensive methane reserves in the north pole or arctic are another energy sources that is already liquified and has alot of capacity to act as a ready example of alternatives.

Honestly, I dont feel like researching about this, I did a whole semester on this crap and right now my primary interest is my health.

I didnt say what he was doing was a bad idea.  I'm just trying my best to give you guys something to post about.  Without my antaginizing, wtf would you do?  Preach to the choir about the evils of our global system, and then sit around and beat each other off while you talk about it?  Nothings ever going to get done here anyways, I'd might as well give you guys someone to argue with.

A lot of my friends are in agreement with you wiccan. There is nothing wrong with forewarning and being prepared. If this is really true, and we are unable to find a replacement for the oil energy, (which he utterly fails to mention during his philosophy of the physics involved), and I personally doubt. Then why wouldn't you want to live it up while you can?

Granted, alternative energies are the best investment, but I don't plan on investing because I'm scared, only because its smart.

Sometimes the motive justify's the means, so if people need to be scared into doing whats both logical and helpful, more power to ya.

I would be really interested in seeing your hydro powered generator.

I would be worried about flooding if I was planning on staking claim near a river.

I am confident enough in my ability to survive, that I don't feel I really need much preparation. (although I did grab those .pdf you generously tossed out there. thx)

If push comes to shove, you will be living it up, and I'll be roughing it. To each his own.
