You said it right there. Israel isn't paying for it because they want to maintain the capability of attacking other countries more than they want to defend themselves.

This is why the U.S is paying for it.

They are not increasing their defenses rather than attacking their enemies, they are doing both.

We are paying for their defense because they aren't willing to. Says it all in your article really.

I support Israel, they are a country with good people just like America or Germany or Japan, but I just don't think we should be giving them so much money, especially during this worsening economic recession. It seems very unfair to the American taxpayers, and to the Palestinians and other Middle Eastern countries which do not receive near as much money, if any, and in addition, our huge support of Israel pisses off many countries in the Middle East, which makes anti-American / anti-Israel terrorist attacks more likely, while simultaneously increasing the risk of our troops that are over there, because the more we support Israel the more pissed off the Middle East 'resistance' will be.

I hope that someday America is in better condition to provide billions in aid to foreign countries, and if/when we are, that we distribute that aid more fairly in the Middle East, because myself and countless others do not approve of how our tax dollars are currently being used, yet the federal government doesn't even seem to care.

The second picture is the UN plan for distribution of land.  As you can see, the Israelis are systematically stealing land from the Palestinians, while the US pays Israel billions every year and turns a blind eye to Israel's complete disregard for the UN agreement.

I certainly don't agree with violence, especially against civilians, but look at it from their point of view.  They have good reason to hate Israel, and by extension, the US.
