when I was at the recruiter he asked if I had tattoos, which I don't and I asked why it's a problem and he just said the current commandant doesn't like them and feels that they tarnish the uniform.  He asked me if I would respect him as much if he had flames shooting up his neck, I kind of agree with it to a point honestly.
