No more anonymous lurkers here?

Noticed the past couple of days the shroomery going offline (late) for a couple of hours. (Been doing some late night insomniac surfing). Actually started noticing it last weekend after the worm. Today I cleared my cache and cookies and noticed that I had to log in to view forums. Not that I care, but I lurked here for about 6 months before registering/posting. I guess in light of recent events, that is going away too. Just wondering if there has been any thought to setting up a mirror site overseas...just in case. I know, the bandwidth costs a lot now, but it would be a shame if this site dissapeared.

I think that refers to members who have chosen to be anonymous in their profiles rather than non-members browsing the boards. I'm probably wrong though. :confused:

this is a problem indeed... two threads for that so far, my friend Derrayld is out but no reply yet from the Admins. I am sure they will fix it though.

but the dissapearance of their posts... that seems tragic, hope its not

This happened due to a database error.
Users affected should email 3dshroom@shroomery.org regarding this, and he will try to restore the acounts.

I support it. It's not a good idea at all in my opinion to let anyone anonymously read the forums, especially in light of recent events. I also like not allowing any new registrants. I guess it can't go on forever though, but it does feel alot safer and private. Thumbs up.

The issue of anonymous viewing is still being discussed amongst the Admins, so nobody should assume anything at this point...

Will becoming a member become more difficult if unregistered guests are no longer allowed to lurk? Just wanted to say that you mods have been doing great this past week, handling all of the questions and complaints with decency and respect. Kudos.
