I would avoid public torrents in my opinion. Private trackers are always the way to go.

I'm pretty lazy. I've just been using demonoid for a while and when it goes down I just don't download anything because all the other torrent sites I used to go to all got shut down and simply suck now.

because some of the files on demonoid are shared through public trackers, but all files that are, are clearly marked "external."

that would be my guess at least

i thought it was the other way around, and that demonoid was picking up trackers from external sites and weren't really part of their site, so the people talking about finding demonoid files through other websites was in relation to that they weren't private at all(the non external files). but i don't know much about it, just passing what i heard along

I dont know. I'm not an expert on this shit

All I know is demonoid is a private tracker with some public files that are collected from external sources.

Before I started using private trackers and actually giving a shit about my up:down ratio, I must have received over three dozen copyright infringements in two years. How I never had my internet shut off, I do not know.. all I know is, once I started being smart about it they stopped coming altogether.

I only do torrents once in a while so I don't really know about download speed that much... Usually I dl from FTP's or uploading sites like Rapidshare.

How much do you guys average?

600kb/sec on both private and public. that's if the seeder ratio of the torrent is high. private is just safer and has an assurance of quality. with public i first read through all the comments before downloading.

Mhm I've had higher with torrents myself but that still doesn't beat a 1-2mb/sec on average with megaupload and Rapidshare
