Morality in general doesn't exist. it's a word people feel the need to pull out when they see something they don't like but can't explain why they think it's wrong

you have a very sophomoric, very basic understanding of morality right there my friend.

sure you aren't still in highschool LOL ?

that might be: judeo-christian morality

but by all means, morality in general isn't something you just pull out of your ass

I must say, I've never read about or heard about Gandhi having people killed.

I'm not saying it ain't true, but I have a very hard time beveling it, and you haven't said anything convincing.

I was under the impression that Gandhi had staged hunger strikes as a means of showing his disapproval when his followers engaged in violence.

your point?

when ghandi says "an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind"
then he orders assassins to kill his enemies. how does this not discredit his philosophy?

i guess that makes the whole world blind.

Why would you speak about something that you know little to nothing about?

not even going to respond to it.

I think the whole world is blind, but I don't think that's due to the whole world following the philosophy of Gandhi.

Weather he was a hypocrite or not, the philosophy is none the less or none the more valuable. The value of the philosophy is no doubt entirely personal. If one man's hipocracy will cheapen an ideal for you, I have pity for you.

But then, I have pity for most of the world's population.

BTW: Gandhi had people assasinated?? I didn't read that event in history. I still find that hard to believe.

read The Peoples History of The United States.

my point is that even in the most critical of times it is necessary and justifiable to steal, murder, lie and cheat. that is my point. EVEN GHANDI COULD REALIZE THAT. just because you may have an ideal of pure altruism and compassion and all that hippie bullshit, doesn't mean that at times it IS justifiable to do these immoral things.

stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

see that is where you are near-sighted my friend.

even things which are inherently evil, like lying and stealing, can be used for good. Its all circumstantial. You have to re-valuate your morals, and should be constantly doing so.

This quote from you seems to be agreeing entirely with my point! No matter what my ideal doesn't meant that at times it is justifiable to do these immoral things.

Hey man, if I thought it was absolutely necessary, then I'm sure the philosophy of Gandhi would be furtherest from my mind. No matter what I do though, I will have to judge myself in the wrong if I had stolen something - even from walmart. No matter what Justification I may have, I know when I'm doing or when I've done the wrong thing. Necessary or no.

that should read "ISNT" at that very vital moment when I commited a typo.

"No matter what Justification I may have, I know when I'm doing or when I've done the wrong thing. Necessary or no. "

The point of the matter is this:
If you have a justification for doing something inherently "wrong", then that action is thus MORALLY RIGHT. even though in all other instances it would be considered MORALLY WRONG.

stealing bread? bad
stealing bread from the czar to give to your entire village? GOOD

how is stealing bread bad? it seems like your the one with the very limited understanding of morality. you haven't yet even considered looking at circumstances from a third-party perspective
