god damn fucking dui

As of today I cannot drive for the next five months. My dad is about to come by and take away my car, just so I won't get any ideas.

I deserve it, but. Fucking blows. Fucking blows, fucking blows. This is going to take some serious getting used to. I like the idea of having more time to just sit back and read on public transportation, but the point remains: god fucking dammit.

What exactly did you expect to come from this thread? My friend was killed by a drunk driver, and I hate, HATE people who drive intoxicated

Yeah, I just have to confront the control freak in me - I have lots of friends who can drive me, few of whom drink nearly as often or heavily as I do, and enough money to pitch in on gas, but I generally seem to have a compulsion to control the movement of things, even if I'm far too wasted to do so legitimately.

Asking for help, even the simple kind, is a very hard thing for me to do.

Again, I'm looking forward to having plenty of time to read and relax on BART and the bus, but yeah. Serious adjustment.

I'm sorry about your friend, Feifen.

I know I fucked up, believe me. I went to jail (not the tank, but Jail), and now I've had my license revoked. I've had plenty of stern admonishments already, I don't come to the Shroomery to hear more fuzzy put-downs. Police are masters at the "Now you have time to think about it" line of talk. :cop:

I know I don't deserve sympathy but that's what I guess I'm asking for. I just feel like shit today.

also my uncle was paralyzed and his friend who was driving died from having the car that flipped 8 times land on his head. my uncle was passed out in the passenger seat and they were both wasted coming home from a run dmc concert. (it was in the 80s)

soo yeah there are MUCH worse things that can come from drunk driving, count your blessings sir.

Same here, I have no sympathy for drunk driving.

It's weird how different the legal limits in the states are... I looked up a list of them, my state is .08, but some are around .12 and I might have even seen one that was .16, maybe I'm wrong, maybe it was .12 but yeah...

Yeah, I'd really like to be angry at the people taking the piss out of me but I just can't muster it. I actually deserve it. :facepalm:

Kinda getting something better than sympathy out of this thread, though. Some fucking reality. I feel terrible for everyone here who's lost someone this way.

I drove drunk way too many times back in my foolish youth and am so glad I never got caught.  I did once crash my car into the back of a bus while kicking H though.  :lol:

Yeah, I've gotten away with drunk driving so many goddamn times that I was starting to feel invincible, like my genes enabled me to do it safely, or some psychotic shit like that.
