Damn they ate every last bite! Wow. Do that with me as well. At least I will be good for something when I'm dead instead of taking up a burial plot until they decided to dig me back up for research a few thousand of years from now.

I wonder if that was the burial rites of some tribe at some point in history. It would be amazing to see something like that done today.

I like the idea of a tree burial too. I think it's the whole circle of life thing that appeals to me, and the idea of a final act of altruism.

My in-laws live near the Mayo clinic up in Rochester Minnesota. They say that some people leave the hospital and go to the woods and die under trees with nature. They found the corpse of an old man off a trail sitting under a tree this spring. He went missing from the hospital sometime in late fall and was there all winter.

It is a type of burial by Buddhists.  This is very much still practiced today. Its called a sky burial.
http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/China/blog-7890.html decent article on it. read the wiki on it too, there's info in there.  The guys you see that actually handle the body are tibetan monks.  This entire practice is overseen by government officials and is considered an acceptable way to "part ways" with a deceased body.

I think so, and also, you can get it today. It's just ridiculous expensive. Or was last time I checked.

As to the vulture thing, no.

I think many of us are being pecked away by (human) vultures enough during life. To hells with thos filthy things.

(Sorry, OP - not judging your choices, but for me it's a resounding NO with emphatic hand movements - but it was a really interesting post/story)

fuck thats shit. when I die, my remains are going to have fun. and this is reflected in my will.
I want to be creamated, and my ashes split into roughly 1/3rds.  1/3rd should be sprinkled somewhere aquatic, either get some friends to paddle out and sprinkle me at sea, or take a boat offshore, or something like that. i don't particularly care about the details, just that I love the beach and water and everything to do with activities in/on/around there.
the second third should be sprinkled on the top of a ski mountain. don't care which one, but I love skiing/snowboarding in the winter so...
the last third, and I'm not sure how feasible this will be, but I'd love to be packed into a drag parachute on a dragster and have my ashes disperse at 150+ mph when he crosses the finish line. I love cars and I've always been into drag racing for as long as I can remember so...
it is also strictly spelled out in my will that there is to be a keg party held in my honor, and at the expense of my estate, shortly after my death, preferably between death and burial.  I want my friends and family to have fun after I'm gone, and celebrate my life, not mourn my passing.
