ive heard 1500-2000ppm of co2 is good for growing pot but what happens if you go over 2000ppm does it reduce your yield or potency any or does it just start getting dangerous to inhale after that point ive also heard that roots need oxygen and not co2. co2 generaters are relly expensive considering you can just ferment yeast, sugar, and water to create co2 for next to nothing but you dont have much controll on how much co2 is released

Don't worry about what levels it's at using yeast sugar and water, I use that method all the time!!! It works wonders, not just with marijuana either. It definately makes a difference I hang a two litre with a hole in the cap  over the plants because it is heavier than air. I usually hang two. Uses alot of yeast and sugar but it's worth it. Also DEA watches significant O2 sales so much safer. I recomend doing it mate! But yes going over that point will decrease yield.. But you won't with a simple set up like that. Covers a twenty square foot area. Gotta shake everyday or more. Only lasts about a week. And turn off your fan or other air exchange when you shake it.

Supplementing CO2 is usually a waste unless you're growing in a sealed environment. This is especially true if you are not a professional grower.

hydro mj definitely needs oxygen in the root zone--but the same would hold true for any other normally land-based plant being grown in hydro. there have been some scientific studies about hydro growing plants and the different root types they have, can develop and also morph into. very interesting reading. it helps you to understand the why's of hydro growing. and why water levels are important.

everybody has an opinion on something. from my experience with hydro growing all kinds of plants, i like the bubblers for simplicity, cost, and ease of maintainence. i don't use clay balls and little baskets anymore. i don't need them. you can do other things with your plants if needed to keep them kind of upright.

you don't have to get all crazy changing your nutes around when you change from vegetative to flowering/fruiting--if you're using R.O. water, which i like, that can cost a whole days collection on some systems. you can opt out for regular faucet water and they will do fine, usually, but you end up buying low calcium micronutrients (hard-water type). otherwise your TDS/PPM goes up way too high with the wrong element involved, ie calcium.

i like hydro but it is a learning curve like most things you do.

If you're not doing a super advanced grow - as in something relatively small and mainly just for you - you could always get some carbonated water (non-sweetened), drop it into a spray bottle and treat your budding plants with it (in addition to normally watering your plant, too, of course).
I've done that sort of thing on non-MJ plants before and it does produce a noticeable improvement... though nowhere near as significant as a tank or some other air-releasing rig might... but an improvement nonetheless.
And I'm fairly certain that if you do this 3-4 times a day it'll be enough.
And, yes, going over 2000ppm CAN harm your plant. Not only because it'll probably be "inhaling" too much CO2, but also because it needs oxygen and other elements found in the air in order to grow healthily. However, I'm not so sure a yeast-sugar mix would go over that amount. My only real caution against the yeast-sugar idea is that it could get messy and you'd have no real way of judging when it's "out of CO2".

When the yeast eats all the sugar and doesn't fizz when you shake it. Only gets messy if you fill it too high with water. But I have used it in a closet with a plant and grew the same plant else where and while the co2 exposed plant was small, 6 inches, it had a half inch stem base and five levels of nodes. The one not exposed to co2 in same conditions was 5 inches and had a 1/8 - 1/4 inch stem base. Now I believe it works wonders and use It evey time.
