HELP! Just accidentally misted with bleach!!

I just accidentally just misted my casing with a 10% bleach/water solution. It hit 3 pins and alot of hyphal knots and slightly misted the soil. What should I do? It was after the 1st flush. Should I dunk? Can I just put some casing soil over it? This was 2 min ago! HELP!!

Damn dude that sucks, I dont know waht to tell you. I would mist it with water right now and hope for the best.

Shit! It was rather dry and I misted heavily. Did I kill it? Should I scrape off all the casing soil and re-case it? Would this seriously fuck it up more?

I would take the safe road and recase them. Unless you like shrooms that make your teeth white when you eat them.

How should I recase?? I have 2 quarts of poo pasturizing right now. I was thinking of taking off most of the casing layer and leaving mainly the mycelial structure and the colinized millet. I was then going to lay a layer of poo on the bottom of my container and cover the whole casing with poo including the sides. I was then going to colinize and then case. Will this work? Will I still get mutants? Should I dunk the casing before doing this? Does this sound right? It is past its 1st flush is this a good idea? Please reply!

YEP, I agree with "only1ak,"  you must beat yourself into submission, oh wait that won't do any good, unless you get someone else to beat you into submission.  LOL. :grin:

Well, you must be punished either way you look at it, and then I would make yourself recase it. 

DO NOT MIST WITH ANYMORE WATER.  It will make the bleach spread even more, I would just scrape the casing off, dunk it,  and maybe turn it upside down, and case it again.

I duuno how far along you are with the grow, but if you have pins, I would sacrifice them.  In any case you must be punished, I mean it needs recased.

Don't worry, we all make mistakes.  It should be ok if you take the caising off, and recase it.  Only the top of the mycelium could get affected.  If you can though I would dunk it, flip it, and then recase it.

Anyone else ever do this?

By the way, label your bottles better next time, and don't keep them side by side.  I'm sure you won't make this mistake again.

OOps, I din't compleatly read your post. I would go with what you said. And yes dunk it. You migh even wanna break up the cake, so it infects the poo quicker. That's what I'd do.

That should work, but I wouldn't leave it under too long, just make sure you wash off the side you sprayed. Might not even have to dunk it. The reason I'm saying that is because it was only on the 2nd flush, and not spent yet. Dunking it for too long might slow down, or kill some of the mycelium. Just make sure you rinse the bleach off, and you should be fine.

I let it sit in the water on each side for a minute. Then I broke up by hand and mixed with 2 quarts of poo. It was real real chunky. I wasent the most sterile(I dident use a glovebox) Do you think that poo will contaminate? In the long run Do you think my yeild will be greater because I mixed with poo? Before it was just millet and casing.Thanks alot.

fortunately bleach is safe for use on edibles.
also. bleach breaks down rapidly when exposed to air.
what damage was done is already done, there's no chance of it soaking into the casing and causing any long term problems.
cubensis mycellia is pretty tolerant to bleach,
in fact the mycellia can take low dilutions of bleach in water with no harmful effects at all, but 10% is still way too strong for such use, we recommend a dilution of 1 part bleach to 200 parts water for disinfecting living cubensis mycellia.
a great many mycotopiates have been using bleach water in their misting and dunking routine now for many months with good results,
even the Visions? (L.B.) Tek from mycotopia.net i recently posted in the basic cultivation forum uses bleach both for pasturization and misting.
and gets excellent results,

Yea it was pasteurized! Damnit I cant believe I fucked it up! But I got a decent 1st flush and I dont mind waiting a few more weeks for these 2 casings to colinize. The casing is in big chunks that stick out of the poo, But theres stil;l plenty of other casing mixed in. Should I remove these?
