This kind of stemmed from the LNC debate over time zones but I think it'd be cool to have in general.  I propose a small, thin, unobtrusive flag icon somewhere near the username/avatar that shows the country of origin.  For instance, my name would look like this:





I like how clean the user panel is so I can understand any objections, but a flag would definitely be cool attached somewhere to the user's posts.

I thought about that and I can't see that being too big of an invasion of privacy.  It's like one or two steps away from saying, "Earth" as their loaction.  :lol:

i like it but it should be optional.

and no one should be able to make custom ones

then we will have warhammer flags, Narnia flags, and The Aliens Are Among Us Now flags to the point it will be useless.

because, of course, i would then need to put the Texas flag instead of the USA.:jah:

Okay if you go to your basic preferences, under the field where you enter your location there's a new checkbox to "show flag". :smile:

though i am clearly located in portugal, my using an american proxy throws off my location flag.  can it be set to portugal?

I have logged in this once so that I can set the "last seen" feature up.  let the faggots flow forth into OTD and have it.  Its funny how they all grew nuts after I left.  I'm not here, I'm not reading, but I urge you all to keep melting down over me.  I know, I hurt alot of people, and they deserved it.  epic win for me, epic fail for you.

The flag is based on geolocation of the IP you're using to access the site, so if you're using a proxy in another country it will show that country's flag. Not really anything I can do about it I'm afraid, since technically it's working as intended.
