I want to open a psychedelic museum

I think it would be great to open a museum about psychedelics

- the first room would be about ancient use - Mayan shrrooms, Siberian Amanita Muscaria, Hindu Soma, The Oracle of Delphi (supposedly they got high off gas coming from a fault in a cave...)

- Albert Hofffmann, who he was, etc.

- Military uses, MK-ULTRA etc.

- the 60's
      Tim Leary, Ram Dass, John Lilly, Owsley Stanley
      60's culture - the Beatles, Hendrix, San Francisco, etc

- The 70's
    Art Linkletter, Nixon (didn't he start the "war on drugs"?)

- ecstacy, research chemicals

- psychedelic renaissance, MAPS.org, PTSD treatment, etc.

I think it could tell a nice story.  It seems like psychedelics are starting to be less taboo, to the point that something like a museum would be good for the community as a whole, and would be good press for psychedelic drugs. 

Then I was thinking there could be a whole interactive chill-out room, and displays of swimming wallpaper, figure/ground weirdness, etc.  - not silly optical illusions, but I dunno, more ways to explore the experience.  Hmmm...

If anyone wants to buy me a building in NYC and fund it, PM me! :smile:

hey man...  im not in the city but i do live in new york...          unfrotntly im not rich  but i could help you design the place if you ever get to it...


i think you should def have a room filled with smoke and lazer lights...  not in the cliche floyd shows kind of way but more like a trippy interactive kind of place where you can chill and enjoy the atmosphere

A room filled with smoke can be a real hazard and the insurance company would most likely not allow that. Even if its fake smoke. Trip and fall = $$$

if you want to up it- add a huge section  about the history of marijuana and prohibition!

how cool would that be?    get authentic clips so you can walk around all the different eras and feel like you're living through the history up to the present day...  :leaf:

Awesome idea :thumbup:

My grandfather and a group of his friends opened a WWII museum in England and over 10 years it has become one of the most visited museums in the region. They actually lease their building from the Air Force
