Do you use psychedelics as a "medicine?"

Okay...

Last night, I had a dream. I was in a beautiful cathedral, and the priests and priestesses were giving everyone Ayahuasca. Some people were curled up on the floor weeping, some people were screaming at the walls, others were dancing and kissing, and others had a look of ultimate bliss on their face. I took my Aya, and in the dream I remember myself saying to someone, "Psychedelics don't always give me what I want, but they'll always give me what I need."

I think that sums up my approach to psychedelics perfectly. They are like the most intense and beneficial therapy session imaginable. I can always tell when I need another "encounter" with a plant ally because I start to let ego games take over again. Psychedelics are a reminder of the way I need to live my life.

Anyway, I'm meeting Aya for the first time next month and I am ready to open my heart and mind for this powerful healing medicine.

Does anyone understand what I mean?

Yes, definitley. I highly respect them, and even if it's fun and recreational, I treat tripping as a deeply spiritual learning experience always. :smile:

Yeah, I and a couple hundred other people do use psilocybes as medicine -- literally. They control my cluster headaches (Horton's Syndrome, for the Europeans out there). They also work pretty well for a lot of migraineurs.

I don't take them for medicine. Even though I don't take them to get fucked up, there definitely is some recreation to it for me.

I use psychedelics as spiritual medicine, yes.

Pinky, I'm curious how you use psilocybes for your cluster headaches. I used to know someone who suffered those, and boy did I get some education on how painful it must be. They are even called Suicide-headaches.. self-explanatory.

Anyways, I'm assuming you must only have these cluster headaches at very sparse frequencies? Otherwise, I have a hard time imagining you'd trip so many times for the sake of head-ache relief... [but then again, I suppose frequent tripping to the brink of insanity is better than dealing with suicide-inducing pain].

I see them as medicine for my ego.  When I start getting to caught up in bullshit and too stressed out about life, I trip, and it all gets better.  Speaking of which, I'm due for a "checkup" sometime soon. :mushroom2: :tripping:

I use plant entheogens as medicine, definitely.  Like Ellemy said, I can feel when I need to "talk" to my plant allies.  All of last week I had a really nasty cold and I decided to smoke some Salvia.  It hit me like a bag of rocks and I had to lay down and I had a candle lit at the foot of my bed and candle came alive and started swaying back and forth, and I felt an intense pressure on my chest, but it wasn't uncomfortable.

The next day I was already coughing up the nasty green phlem, which I wasn't expecting to happen for another 2-3 days.  I feel that whatever entity or entities is in Salvia or in my mind :smile: looked over my body and saw that there was a foreign substance in my lungs (my cold) and fought it.  Now I'm over my cold and I'm all better now.

I think it might be due to the fact that I've formed a partnership with salvia.  I've been growing her for over a year and have never smoked anything other than my own leaves.  I don't know though. :smile:

As for other plants, yes definitely.  I've never been a recreational marijuana smoker but I haven't smoked in a month and I can feel a defininte want and possibly a need to smoke some.  I really like to read while high and I usually read a lot but the last couple weeks I've been slacking on that.  Same with shrooms, I haven't tripped in a over a month as well.  But I'm getting back to that now that its getting cold outside and I won't be going out as much.

If it has been well documented that magic mushrooms can cure cluster headaches why are they still Schedule I? Where it classifies them as having no medicinal use. How come doctors don't know about this?

Psychedelic make people think differently, those in charge do not understand us, they are afraid of us, and they hate us. Different ways of thinking, especially psychedelic type thinking, and different cultures are NOT tolerated by our governments, and more importantly not tolerated by the conservative christians and conservative muslims that run our countries.

i like how they treat opiates. man now there is some hypicritacle shit for ya.

i use it for "medicine", and for spiritual (not so much gody, more get in touch with self and nature).

if i jsut want to get high i get stoned or tanked. i dont abuse any other.

I like doing mushrooms every few months. A couple psychedelic experiences were rough, but all in all they end up being something that I need. It's almost like a coincidence. No matter what happens on a mushroom trip, it feels like that's exactly what I needed.

I need a little checkup as well. I have a hard time explaining about what goes on when I do psychedelics. I can definitely say that they've helped me cope with life, ego, depression, and lots of other things. They're great teachers.

My trips seem to have been these apocalyptic battles that end in a rush of information/Euphoria/God. You really do feel like God because you are. My trips have always ended in beauty even though a few have been rough going through. Not that you have to be scarred to be alive. Actually what I consider discomfort I know to be nothing compared to what some people put themsleves through. I haven't tripped all that many times, but when I have, I waited long enough to forget what I was getting myself into. Last trip I had was at David Byrne at Bonnaroo. On something pure, it blew my mind.
