Questions on growing P. Cyanescens...

Gonna start soon, the temps outside are low on the range (5 celcius outside), I think I'm gonna find a hidden spot on the abandoned golf course by my house, dig a hole, cut up some cakes and put them in and cover the hole up with soaked cardboard, then a thin layer of soaked woodchips. Do you think this would work out for me?

Also:
-Do P. Cyanescens need much humidity? I heard of somebody who did a grow with none besides the cardboard (indoors) and it worked out... I guess if it dried out I could add another layer of cardboard... I want to try growing both indoors and outdoors but I don't know the temp in my house!

-Can you grow other strains with the same method?

Unfortunately the guy I'm ordering off of doesn't carry azurescens...

Another question I had, after I lay the cardboard would it be safe to cover that over with dead leaves or something, people DO walk on this golf course and it is mowed, albeit rarely.

First of all, you are going to need to do a lot more reading.

Sorry.

No, your method will most likely not work. To get a flush of cyanescens, you will need to have a colonizing bed of hardwood chips for a few months BEFORE the cold weather starts. You will most likely need to be in the PNW or Northern states as well. They are a cold weather fruiter which fruits off of hardwood chips.

The easiest method I have seen is colonized grain transfered to soaked beech chips, colonized, and then transfered into larger soaked sterilized chips in bags, then innoculated into an outside woodchip bed, and covered with a light amount of soil. THis was done in the spring, and does not fruit until early winter.

Try searching the "advanced" mushroom cult. forum, or check out the Joshua's log, over at the Growlog forum. Where he grows the Azures...pretty much same method however.

I suggest preinnoculating some sterilized woodchips indoors for the next couple months. If this works then use these to innoculate your outdoor patch in the spring. Now is not the time to start the outdoor patch.
