Proposed Law / Legal FORUM TOPIC

I have been on the Shroomery board for awhile and have noticed a lot of questions either dealing directly or indirectly with various issues surrounding the legal aspects of mushroom culvitation, questions about various state and federal laws, and other legal issues.
A search for "law" returns 50 posts in the last two days scattered into various categories such as Off-Topic Discussion, Political Discussion, General Questions and Other Drugs. Although many of these postings relate to their respective categories, I believe most would agree they would be better placed in a LAW / LEGAL forum topic.
I know many other shroomery members share similiar interest in the law and I believe adding a Law topic would benefit all users and generally make this board a better place :]
I would also be happy to moderate the forum.

If for some chance, the forum is created, I'll also volunteer for as a mod. Keep in mind that they're aren't already any forums that have to do with this topic.

Not quite. Computer and security issues deal mostly with securing your internet connection, maintaining privacy, etc- Although the discussions sometimes involve legal issues, this is not to say it is a Legal forum. I believe the previous poster is correct in stating that right now there is no single appropriate forum to address legal issues and concerns.

I think that Computer and Everyday Security and Political Discussion and Shroomery Newz all carry aspects of the topic u ask. I dont think we should create another one. In this sense, we should make 1000's of forums.

If u wanna discuss a change in law, or want some legal advises from those who had been chased by the law, Political Discussion is your forum.

EXACTLY. This is why we need a Legal forum. If I'm looking for posts related to the law, where the heck am I going to search now? You expect me to go through 3 different forums and deal with 85% of posts that are completely unrelated to the law? Doubtful.
This an extremely important issue for many people, including newbies which might not realize that "Comptuer and Everyday Security" can also mean "What are the charges of cultivation in my state?"--
Overgrow.com has a very successful legal forum containing over 17000 posts!
Other sites such as the-hive.ws (cultivation site) has a dedicated legal forum with over 5100 posts.
I believe that having this forum would make posting or finding a legal questions easier, even if it means creating another forum topic.

Also, all the legal ?s tend to be scattered around in all different forums. A strictly law and legal issue forum would aid with posting in the wrong forum.

you could just expand that forum to directly include legal issues... like the time 'cooking' was added to the media room, only this time it would make more sense

What the heck is this? Who's the person responsible for creating new forums? Why aren't there any moderators replying to this post? Does anyone read posts in this forum??

BLAH.
There have been several people in this thread who have expressed interest in creating the LEGAL forum. I believe I have already justified a response to him and there has been no reply.
Obviously he is not the only forum moderator. Would any forum moderators be interested in helping to create this new forum?

There are already too many forums at the Shroomery, you will have to find an exisitng forum that best fits the topic.

Anno,
I agree there are already too many forums on the shroomery. I propose we take a poll to replace the "LITERARY ARTS AND FILM ARCHIVE" with the legal forum.
We won't completely get rid of the Literary arts forum either-- we will simply combine it with the Creative Arts forum since there is significant overlap.
If more than 50% are in favor, let's create the Legal forum. If not, I will drop the subject entirely.

Well honestly we are not eager to create new forums, so the creation of a totally new forum is not one we admins like. 3dshroom mentioned using computers and everyday security; if you could word it better or change the title of that forum for legal issues/security issues and computer issues; then I think we could do something like that.
But a completely new forum for legal issues is overkill since the amount of posts would be very minimal for that topic.
But a re-arangement of forum topics is not out of the question, so maybe something like I suggested would be the solution?

GREAT. So let's go ahead and do it then... What's the next step for rearranging the forums?
By the way, you might be right-- it's possible that there would not be a large amount of posts-- but I feel that the posts IN that forum would be VERY valuable.
I want to compile a LAW FAQ in the forum... I would also like to outline any prior cases involving mushrooms as well document on a state by state basis the laws for mushroom posession / cultivation / picking. I do not want to imply that I am a lawyer, and that should be explicitly stated, but I still believe myself and other members of the forum can provide valuable information.
