photoshop help isolate image
    #11776554 -

Hello, just wondering if someone can help. Im not a graphic designer but i want an image to use as a tattoo, and i dont want the background. So I was hoping someone could help or just do it for me cuz ive been reading tutorials for hours and dont have a clue. Im trying to use the magic wand tool, and the image im trying to extract is gradiated, and to make things worse im color blind. Its not a difficult job it should prob take about 2 minutes. So

#1 please isolate the image and remove the background.

#2 turn the image black

#3 invert it so east become west

#4 show me the tool to elongate the image so that it is approximately the length of a printed piece of paper. I need to print it and cut it out as a template. So I need to make a wide image very thin so as to be tattoed on my arm. Contact me for the image thegreattailz@hotmail.com aim thegreattails yahoo thegreattailz thanks

upload teh pic

instead of using the magic wand on stuff like that, i usually zoon in very close and use the Polygonal Lasso or Magnetic Lasso tool.

trace around the image and connect it.

once you have the outline, right click on the "lines" of the lasso and select feather from the menu. you can then adjust it pixel by pixel to get a much smoother, natural looking cut.

from there, right click again and select "new layer via cut" and it will seperate it from the background.

then create a new document and drag the layer from the original pic into it.

yeah I'd suggest magnitic lasso or the extract tool for what you're trying to do.

but really if you're just doing this for a tattoo I don't see why you couldn't just take the pic to your artist. It's not like a temp tattoo where anything on the paper winds up on your skin. The artist still has to put it there.
