Dakar Rally 2010

Is anybody following the 2010 Dakar Rally? I am really pissed at the coverage/advertising here in America over it, i mean for the most grueling off road race there is you think they would put a little bit more effort into it. Anyways if you are following it and have some useful links besides the mainstream ones. please post them. or any other ideas or info would be great. thanks

i am also interested... i've caught some coverage from last years race on the VS. channel, but coverage in the US on mainstream TV is nil. nascar seems to be the norm here.

no kidding, i just found some clips (5 mins) each on this web page dakar clips but they are 5 mins each. it seems like every year this even comes and goes without much of a bat from americas eye. its sad even when we do have an american driver Mark Miller car# 305 is the only American hopeful to win. ill post more as i come across it. im on a mission.

not really into racing at all.. maybe just cause Nascar is the only thing we really get in the US..

id never even heard about Dakar but i saw it recently on the beginning of Long Way Down (Ewan McGregor) and it looked cool.

id like to check it out.

It's scary as hell, buy yourself a old beat up RWD car and go out into the bush on a dirt road with lots of turns, awesome fun but very freaky.
I used to do it a couple of years ago, buy a car for $100 and we'd go screaming through the bush on a rally track that's only used a couple of times a year, going 80km/h with trees cms from the car door as it's sliding round corners really puts the fear into you, but it's so much fun.

it seems like sbs is the main source for footage. its a bummer Shawna Cox cfg (Canadian film girl) couldnt make it this year. she has been following mark miller for quite some time and is doing a documentary on him hopefully once he wins the Dakar for America. I was hoping that i could stream it on my phone while at work, but its not looking to promising. i found some pages that do stream however i think the pages may just be way to busy for the cell phone to handle.
hey bootlegapparel are you able to see more than 5 min clips on that site?

You can watch the highlights (5 mins) of each stage for bikes, cars, trucks on the videos page, but yeah most of the vids although there's alot of them, are 5 mins, gotta watch it on telly if you want it all

eurosports has 45min. highlight coverage, can be found on torrent.

versus channel in the US has 30min. highlight coverage, see my above post for times.

awesome thanks for the info on eurosports, and i checked the versus channel and its early than what they posted. i just think 5-30 min highlights are crap for that type of race. i mean hell if it was brittany spears we would have 4 e true holywood stories plus the background and life of the new babies daddy and a marathon on his childhood. cant they show some more love to an awesome race like the dakar?

i agree, i was hoping to look for at least an hour of coverage for the cars alone, a half hour of coverage is just too little for a whole day's race, let alone for 4 different types of vehicles.

just fyi, the eurosports torrent is on piratebay, they have stages 1-3 as of now, stage 4 should be posted tonight or tomorrow i hope, and the VS coverage is EST; next showtime is 11:30 EST. or 8:30 PST tonight.
