Best way to soften stiff jeans?
    #11738143 -

I have this pair of jeans that are so damn stiff that it seems like they are made out of kevlar. I bet you could shoot them with a pellet gun and it wouldn't go through them.

Anyway. I've Googled how to soften them and every website says something different. I've read put shampoo or conditioner on them, run them in the wash with an assload of fabric softener, soak them in vinegar, soak them in saltwater, soak them in Coca Cola, put them in the dryer with sneakers/tennis balls/golf balls, and turn them inside out and sand them horizontally.

What have you found works best? There is all kinds of crazy this out there and I don't know what to believe.

You tie a rope to the back of a pickup truck and find a gravel road with small rocks, grab onto the rope and get the truck going about seventy miles per hour and hold on tight.

SEMEN!!

But I usually just put em in the washer with lots of fabric softener a couple times. You could try scrubbing them with sand.

Just wear 'em, they'll soften up all on their own.

What I was gonna suggest. I'm sure a couple times of wearing them will soften them up to your liking, and if not they will eventually.

Ya, I usually wear my jeans for around a week before washing anyways, unless I've been really rough on 'em.

Sanding works, just don't go too nuts. Shitloads of fabric softener will work too.

Time and many wash cycles is the best though.

I don't know what to tell you, but I hate how stiff and tight my jeans feel right after they've been washed/dried. So I started putting on a pair of fresh jeans, and when they were around my knees I thought I'd push my knees out to the side as much as possible to loosen em up. Bad idea, they ripped :frown:

Move around in them a lot, squat down and stretch em out (no homo) they're probably full of starches or something though to keep them stiff.  You could always fill up your washing machine with hot water and soaps/fabric softener and let them soak in there for a few hours, than run them through a couple more times without soap to get as much out as possible.

I've got it..Get a large piece of sand paper, put it on the ground, and grind all over it with your jeans on.

No, rubbing sandpaper on them would not do the trick..you must grind.

I don't own a single pair of jeans because they are so fucking restraining and uncomfortable for me.

Sounds like that pair will never change, Gumby.

Damn dude, that asian 8 year old really knew what she was doing.

Soak them in water and just start stretching them out every which way using muscle (making sure a seam isn't between the area you're stretching, don't want them to rip of course).

I've beaten a rough pair doing that, but damn man yours sound like some tough ones.

$95 pair of jeans from Banana Republic is a cheap pair of jeans? I'd say they're pretty damn good quality. Exgirlfriend and I were playing football on city streets while I was wearing them and she knocked me over and it totally should have torn a hole in the knee... Not even a scuff mark. I'd say that's quality jeans.
