I went to a primitive skills gathering this past summer and met some people and learned some knowledge and had a blast.
I'm practicing making all sorts of tools for a more subjectively harmonious life with nature.
I don't like spending money like I used to and I dropped out of my prior learning  institution to learn to cultivate food and practice homeopathic medicine

There are many luxuries in this life and I'm by no means able to drop all of them at once. But slowly I'm learning to live without pleasures fueled by government/corporate business.

If you are trying to learn to build a fire without butane or gasoline, weaving a shirt with harvested fibers, growing plants, making moonshine, practicing herbal medicine, or hunting deer share your interests and progress.

I hope to get an active sub-community of people on here to help each other out with such tasks.

Ah, that explains it.  Typical know-it-all noob.  We get a few thousand just like you register here every year.  They try a few grows, fail miserably and then after a few months or one bad trip, go back to sniffing glue, never to be seen again.

We have a basic pf tek that's idiot proof enough for noobs to get fucked up with their friends.

Mycologists on the other hand grow for the love of growing.  They want to experiment with various species, substrates, and fruiting environments. They'll move on to isolate strains, attempt hybridization, and in general treat cultivation as an artform, rather than a chore that must be performed as a means to an end.  They'll work twice as hard for a ten percent gain, just for the love of perfection.  These are the ones who will isolate strains, not the dumb fucks who treat mushrooms as a drug, or even worse, a pathogen, as if mushrooms cause disease.

"No more shroomery" hahaha
Well when people tell me I have to drop everything electric I tell them that I'm not ready. I grew up on Hot Pockets, Doritos, and Dr. Pepper. Saturday Morning Cartoons & Disney. So I wasn't taught how to even just survive I was taught how to get used to a system. It's not necessary to picture the system as "EVIL!" It is what it is.
Now I realize (and NOT just in a blink of an eye) that I am living in the lap of corporate luxury where banks rule and politics deceive. I don't care if people are making good or bad decisions for me....i want to be in control of my life and community. Psychedelics have also helped me realize the amount of control I am capable of. And by getting to know myself and the plants, fungi, and animals around me and how they make me who I am I can better myself at harmonious living.
And trust me I'm getting to know that life ain't easy. Only TV tells us it should be

Gratitude is crucial for a pleasurable life...and dancing. haha

That's why I am SO thankful when I walk into a grocery store or Farmers Market.

and I ask you this (because I love this question)
Would you rather safe slavery or dangerous liberty....
not that that correlates exactly to what you're getting at, but that's where community comes in I guess.
I guess looking back at History people did that. And some people like Vikings supported each other by pillaging other communities.

After some thought this came to mind: There will always be people who can't support themselves (for what reason...that's complicated), but there will also and has been in the past folks who can support themselves and community fairly well.
So as long as the system those incapable and uncomfortable people a part of doesn't affect the people who CAN find pleasure and comfort in a supporting community I'd say there is success.
But throughout most recent centuries that hasn't been the case

p.s. Have you heard of the book Ishmael?

I would rather have pleasurable slavery than agonizing liberty, and this is a point that the book Brave New World gets at.

Wikipedia has a decent summary:
Ishmael is a 1992 philosophical novel by Daniel Quinn. It examines mythology, its effect on ethics, and how that relates to sustainability. The novel uses a style of Socratic dialogue to deconstruct the notion that humans are the end product, the pinnacle of biological evolution. It posits that human supremacy is a cultural myth, and asserts that modern civilization is "enacting" that myth.

It talks a lot about humanity's role in the take over of the world. Mentioning specifics like agriculture and religion/mythology and government.

Ishmael is a fantastic book. I have a copy right here.

Me I've learned how to be a beekeeper..I have 3 hives in my backyard right now and hope to have at least 6 next summer by splitting the colonies into smaller units..I learned how to make mead (honey wine) and regular wine and where to locate free fruit to make it with within just a few miles of my home. Picked about $250 worth of fruit this summer most of which is in my freezer right now and the rest is in carboys or bottles.

I know how to increase the yields of crops by up to 50%, how to increase soil fertility naturally and sustainably, and am learning about herbalism. Right now I am collecting seeds for plants which can replace many pharmaceuticals should they become unavailable..chief among those are antiviral and antibacterial plants which can ward off virtually any new bug that comes along.

Things next on my list: making fire with bow drill and learning more about locating native plants for medicine and food. I think if there was a long-term breakdown of the food distribution network many people would starve or die of illness ironically surrounded by food plants which they never thought of as food.
