Sustainability of Last Man On Earth
    #4621709 - 09/05/05 05:23 AM (11 years, 3 months ago)

The twilight zone episode (old school) is playing where a man wakes up and finds hes the last person on earth. I wonder what I'd do in that situation. Probably find a nice house to move into and get a HUGE garden going. You could do anything you wanted. You would almost certainly be able to attain enlightenment in a situation like that. As long as I had a huge library on hand and a way of producing energy, I'd be fine. What do you think the worst part would be of being the only guy left on earth?

One thing that I'd PRAY happened is that about 10 hot chicks remain. "Now I am the last man on earth! beg for my cock!"

Is it the one where the man was sort of a bibliophile, always absorbed into his reading books, and wore glasses?

Oh, I think I know episode.

The Twilight Zones are the only tv show that are capable of giving me goosebumps. It's the way they're narrated, and in black and white which adds to the eeriness. It's such a very well-done show and no one could've ever been nor ever will be better than Rod Serling.
I was slightly disappointed in the attempt to resurrect the show by UPN a few years back - it had alot of potential, but it just wasn't clicking. I think they should've stuck with the black and white scheme, much like Sin City.

One of earliest episodes I remember that really weirded me out, was about a man and a woman waiting for a train in the subway... and then the spookiness begins. He starts seeing what appears to be elusive identical replicas of himself in the subway, and the woman's eerie behavior was another story.
I could go on all night long recollecting the freaky episodes that I've always remembered with a chill down the spine... I'm going to have to buy the whole damn set someday.

I don't think one would survive long alone on Earth...I think you would go utterly insane, knowing that for the rest of your life you'll never share another story, emotion, or love with another human.

I think the loneliness would probably lead to suicide or premature death eventually.

Its not quite the same as being alone in a world full of people though. As long as you know there are people out there and the potentional to have company is there then yes you'll miss it.

However, you remove that fact altogether and now there is no potentional for company I think you would move beyond being "lonely" persay and adapt to the new situation. It would take some time but I think it is possible.
