Love em! Hard to make them right, though.

I have favorite drinks (cocktails) for all occasions. Depends though. Some favs:

Mojito (only if well made/balanced)
Dark and Stormy (Goslings Rum with primo, strong ginger beer)
Martini, extra olives please. :grin:

mmm now I want a tasty beverage....

Nothing beats a rum and orange juice.  Bloody Marys are damn good though.  Vodka, tobasco, and tomato juice?  Sounds disgusting, but for some reason they go so well with breakfast.

Ooooh, I love ginger beer!!  My grandma makes it all the time.  I'll have to try mixing it with rum.  Sounds incredible.

You have NO IDEA. :lol:

So freaking good.

You need dark rum, and the kind of ginger beer that's filtered (not the "ginger brew" which is the pulpier, cloudy thing, often found in Jamaican joints.) I bet your grandma's is amazing. I'm going to attempt a batch soon!

Garnish with lime if you wish. :grin:

I'm more of a beer drinker myself, and when I do drink liquor I usually prefer it on the rocks. But, a bloody mary is one of the few mixed drinks that I like, as long as it is spicy. I use generous amounts of tabasco sauce, worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper, and a little bit of horseradish and a squeezed wedge of lemon to spice it up.

Bloody marys are a good hangover helper, but I prefer mimosas for a morning bev.

Read a baller recipe in bon appetit for a bloody mary recently. It seems like work, but it also sounds absolutely delicious. I might make a batch for new years morning

Ingredients
1 1/2 pounds plum tomatoes, coarsely chopped
1 large carrot, peeled, coarsely chopped
1 large golden beet, peeled, coarsely chopped
1 small fennel bulb, trimmed, coarsely chopped
1 large garlic clove, chopped
1 bay leaf
1 tablespoon plus 1 1/2 teaspoons coarse kosher salt
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon celery seeds
6 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce
1 tablespoon grated peeled fresh horseradish
2 teaspoons coarsely ground whole black peppercorns
1 teaspoon hot chili sauce (such as sriracha)*
1/4 cup Guinness (optional)
3 cups vodka or gin
Ice cubes
Lime wedges
Pickled vegetables (such as okra, green beans, or jalapeños)
 
*Available in the Asian foods section of many supermarkets and at Asian markets.
Preparation
Place first 6 ingredients in large pot. Add enough water just to cover (about 6 cups). Bring to boil; reduce heat to medium and simmer uncovered until vegetables are very soft, about 50 minutes.
Discard bay leaf. Add 1 tablespoon coarse salt and lemon juice; cool slightly. Working in batches, puree vegetable mixture in blender until smooth. Add enough water, if needed, to measure 8 cups. Cover and chill.
Grind celery seeds with remaining 1 1/2 teaspoons coarse salt in mortar with pestle or in spice grinder. Add celery-seed salt, Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper sauce, horseradish, black pepper, hot chili sauce, and Guinness, if desired, to vegetable puree. Cover and chill Bloody Mary mix overnight.

Bloody's are fantastic if made correctly. I drink a shit load of them while hanging at the house. I usually have one on standby to compliment my beer.

Not much of a drinker at all anymore. But damn, a fine scotch, a good bloody mary, man these drinks make me melt... find me a good bartender that can make a real Russian and you might just see me falling off my bar stool.
